Male Hairloss - At What Stage Should We Cut Our Losses?

At what stage of male pattern hair-loss is it better to go for the buzz-cut? How far in is it still a benefit to show off what we've got i.e. "Hey girls, I've still got this many hairs left!"

escorpio 07-23-2015 05:11 PM

Not my issue. Fifty-two years old and still a 1 on the Norwood Scale. :)

EddyTheDog 07-23-2015 05:31 PM

I have a massive head - A buzz cut will never look good - I am a 3 vertex - I am at 50% though - I still have hair...

You tried one of these? Seems to actually be one thing that works, but with blood

Christ - I'm not that worried - Maybe in a few years though...

CaptainHowdy 07-23-2015 05:50 PM

I have too much hair ...

bronco67 07-23-2015 06:00 PM

I was looking in the mirror at the perfect angle with the right lighting the other day...and I could see some scalp. Panic moment.

CDSmith 07-23-2015 06:51 PM

I've been rocking the buzz for so long I have no idea where I fall on that scale. Not sure I care either.

The low buzz/5 o'clock shadow head is very liberating.

DanS 07-23-2015 07:33 PM

I am a 2 since I was 20 I guess.
If it ever changes to the worse, I will shave it off.
I prefer my hair short like 5mm or something anyway.

I'm the same, not normally too worried, not at my age anyway, but if you tell me there's a really easy way to fix it, which does work and is cheap, I might think about doing it

Once you damage the skin apparently the body sends loads of good stuff over to fix it up, hopefully better than before. That's just a theory though, they don't know for sure why it works, but studies show that it does

_Richard_ 07-24-2015 03:26 AM

so is there a connection between drinking and going bald?

It's a factor in the equation

Jesse1984 07-24-2015 04:30 AM

Luckily for me I've got a nicely shaped noggin. I started losing it at 19, but growing up in Florida I always rocked a buzz cut. So I just started shaving to my skin. It's never been an issue as far as women, but also having a giant fucking beard helps too.

Apperently you believe everything that is put on the interwebs... That thing doesn't help one single fuck against hairloss; doesn't take away the cause of hairloss and doesn't give you new hair.

There are only 2 options if you want to fight hairloss:

-a drug called finasteride... (i'm sure you know what it is as you post like someone who studied medicine). With all side-affects... it's not even really a serious option...

-hairtransplantation: they take a part of a hair follicle from your own donorarea (place on your head where always will grow hair...); they put that part of a hair follicle back into a little made hole (where you want your hair back). Where they took part of a hair follicle it will grow back (most of the times) into a normal hair, and a new hair is created/cloned. They can take up to about 1800 hair follicles per session from your donorarea. These new placed hairs are from the area (donorarea) where hair is not vulnerable to the hormon dihydrotestosteron... which is the cause of hairloss. These "clones" will remain growing and will not fall out because they are from the donorarea and were never vulnerable to the hormon dihydrotestosteron. It takes about a year before you can take another 1800 follicles in a session. You can repeat endlessly...

The only downside is: a session of 1800 follicles costs around 8000-10.000 euro.

I remember that when the new male students arrive at university, very few have a hairloss problem, after a year or 2 of drinking the situation changes dramatically

Struggle4Bucks 07-24-2015 05:04 AM

So what... a few words on an internetpage... If you read it carefully you will see that it says nothing... or at least not what you want to hear... But it says enough to make you hear what you want to hear...

Should i post 100 links to "studies" where you can find the best shampoos that will restore your hairloss?

All people involved in that study also used Minoxidil... the people who used the dermaroller together with Minoxidil "showed little bit more hairgrow" then people who only used Minoxidil...
So you are willing to use the dermaroller in combination with Minoxidil?
Minoxidil is allready busted.... it will never give you back a full head of hair.
There is a difference between getting some "babyhairs".... and getting back your normal hairline and stop further hairloss.

This is a clear case of: i have hairloss... i have a "problem". Hey... someone says a dermaroller works. Let's buy it... if it doesn't work i at least tried it. End result: some scammer is making bank of desperate people wanting hair. I don't understand how you missed the conspiricy here...

I wouldn't be so quick to group this one with all of the others, it wasn't a little bit of difference, this is far superior to Minox on it's own. Most hairloss products are a load of rubbish, most of what you'll find is a scam, but we have to be careful about assuming that everything is, I've read a lot about the microneedling and it appears to be one of the best products available

"The mean change in hair count at week 12 was significantly greater for the Microneedling group compared to the Minoxidil group (91.4 vs. 22.2 respectively, P = 0.039)"

Paul Markham 07-24-2015 05:43 AM

I'm not going bald.

My head is just getting bigger.

Superior to Minox only doesn't mean a single fuck if that "superior" is still not giving you your hair back and still means you have to use a drug with sideaffects. You have to watch with fucking binoculars to see these babyhairs in a fucking "Pilot Study". If you want bayhairs i advise you to simply stop eating and become anorexic... it works too...

Hairtransplantation is the only option today if you want your normal hair back. Sorry.

wehateporn 07-24-2015 05:46 AM

I know that Minox is almost useless, also yes proper hair transplant is the best thing available.

If someone was in the early stages, the rolling would be the best thing to go for. If you've already lost loads then it's hardly worth it

once you start losing it at the top, it's time to cut it off or shave it off

A bit of Rogaine would add 12%, could be the difference at a job interview or on a date

Depends on the face...
In this pic the look is fine... I would keep it like that rather then shave it bold... but i also would not grow it longer...
