Project Free TV is shutdown/closedown

One of the biggest, if not biggest TV shows streaming site was close down/shut down yesterday abruptly with no warning or reason why it was shut down. Visitors who logged into the site was met with nothing more than a blank page with the word "Goodbye" :(

For anyone who doesn't know about this site, think Netflix but bigger and better and free. :winkwink: It streamed TV episodes from offsite resources for years and had TV series from as far back as the late 70's and 80's like Miami Vice, Magnum PI, Knight Rider to current new ones like Dark Matter, Messengers, and Under The Dome.

It was a huge site

never heard of it either. was it legal?

EliteWebmaster 07-25-2015 02:38 AM

It was borderline, but yes it was legal because none of the content was stored on their servers, just links to off sites storage streaming like Vodlocker, vidto.me ,etc..

That's one of the reasons it stayed up for all these years right in plain sight of the movie/tv show companies.

The site would just shug their shoulders and say they didn't host any of it, it was "user uploaded to a third party file/streaming storage site".

I would use the site regularly as I would be able to watch any current TV show episode within hours after it was aired. Especially when some of these douchebag sites like HBO would not allow me to watch the episode in my country for some reason, then this site would be the way to go.

I think the first line of the story kind of explains it. "The hugely popular illegal TV streaming site"

It seems like maybe the law finally caught up to them.

EliteWebmaster 07-25-2015 02:48 AM

Well, like I said, it's borderline only because technically nothing was stored on their site, they were just pointing to the links.

Just like the media used to refer to PornHub as being "hugely popular illegal porn streaming tube site" :1orglaugh

Update: Project Free TV is back online under a new domain name. Streamers can find the site at ProjectFreeTV.so rather than the usual free-tv-video-online.info.

Exactly, don't visit that BS .so site. It's a fake site. It doesn't even function or look like the original site. It's malware/virus just waiting to happen :2 cents:
