Adult Content on Sub-domain of Non-Adult Site?
As far as I know, a sub-domain is treated as its own domain entirely.
Maybe some of the SEO experts in here can shed some light on any possible implications of utilizing a sub-domain on an otherwise non-adult website? The way I'm looking at it is as long as the adult sub-domain and the primary domain don't link to each other there shouldn't be any issues. Any input from the SEO experts? |
I would keep the two separate personally. If you look up a site on a shared server you can see all of the other domains hosted on that server. So for example, you might have Church.com show up with dogshiteaters.com if they share the server...might not be what either would prefer.

Bad idea. Really bad idea.

I'd recommend you getting a separate domain for adult site, domains don't cost a fortune and you'll be safe this way.
We don't need to search for some case studies for your case, because a common sense says that your idea is wrong. It's not that your adult site on a subdomain could get issues, but also that your non adult site's reputation might get hurt by the adult site too. |
To save what.. 15 bucks a year?
If what ever site you are building is not going to make $15 year to pay for the reg fee.. Don't even fucking start ok apply at Maccas now for a job. |

I noticed OVGuide.com has adult content on its primary domain and they seem to do just fine (http://www.ovguide.com/adult.html). As long as I'm correct in thinking the subdomain and primary domain are counted as separate domains entirely I don't see why I won't be able to maximize this domain's potential. |
If you don't mind your surfers(customers or whatever you call them) seeing both adult and main steam content on the search page, than go ahead.
But if you do, DO NOT do it. Because you can not guarantee that they won't come up in search result side by side, No one can, even Matt Cutt can't |

Google will associate the two together. There's no way in avoiding that. Quote:

If main site is vids.com and subdomain is adult.vids.com then nothing wrong with that.
P.s. whatever matt cutts ever said, do the opposite and you at least have a fighting chance. |

Listen to AdultKing - he is 100% on target.
Mixing mainstream with adult is extremely foolish. No logical excuse for doing so. |
