I think it may be pure political comedy. The only good thing that will come of it is Trump will voice the worst ideals of his followers. It will be more interesting if Trump will be able to "rock and troll" over the pack of likely candidates.

I expect he will be put in his place by the more seasoned politicians, so yes.

He's got no substance, so yes, he will get his clock cleaned in the debates. Being ahead in the polls means dick. Remember the last election? Romney won.

like any other candidate has "substance"? they are all professional bullshitters, saying what people want to hear... Trump on the other hand doesn't care about political correctness, he calls it, the way he sees it... for many, it's an appealing quality...

So he won't have prepared party line rhetoric, promises that tell people what they want to hear but will never be implemented like all the other professional politicians?

i fully expect the/a/a few seasoned politicians to implode. they have no idea how to handle him, they can't take him on because he'll out zing them and add to his poll#s, and they can't ignore him because then they'll be left on the sidelines.

This will most likely be Trump's most important moment. If he does well it might just cement his position as the front runner. If he does poorly he might back out.

I think Trump is good at getting attention and saying the things people want to hear, However, I don't believe he will do well at the debate. It's one thing to give the right answer, but it's another thing to debate the answer when six other people are picking it apart.

I think he will come out of this looking arrogant and without having any answers. If I was him I would be spending the rest of the time prepping for this debate. He is about to learn that being a businessman is vastly different than politics.

I like people who don't give a shit about being PC.

The Donald isn't as volatile as his detractor think, nor as original as his supporters do. UKIP, FPO, FN... all the right wing parties in Europe have taken off using the same "make the country great again" and "immigrants out" themes in the past decade. He will keep using what worked for them and do alright.

For sure it will be more fun than it traditionally has.

I actually think he is going to shine. I say this because there are going to be 10 people on stage, each candidate is only going have a few minutes to speak so Trump can use his limited time to fire off some good one liners, bash a few of his opponents and make a few good statements without having to show any real depth.

As the field narrows and there are fewer candidates in the debates he may have a more difficult time.

Implode? No. He may be exposed as being a tad in over his head on certain issues, but then again we're talking about a guy who has been in high pressure boardroom situations all his life and is used to being the biggest dog in the room. Widely considered as a joke or non-serious candidate, the oddest thing about Trump may very well be that he IS serious, and thus might very well make many of those 'serious polititians' look ridiculous.

Whatever happens you can bet on two things... this is going to be an entertaining debate, and it could be the most watched one in history. And if it is the most watched it will be for one reason only. Anyone care to guess what, or who, that reason might be?

Trump is a lot smarter than most people give him credit for, he is playing his part perfectly. He is forcing the Republican Party to shit or get off the pot, so to speak. if he doesnt get the nom he runs independent and hands the election to the democrats...its genius really he is marketing Donald Trump and he is doing it perfectly.

I for one applaud him...I dont agree and wouldnt vote for him him but its time the average person felt like he has a man in Washington and Trump is playing that like a virtuoso. US politics now needs his democratic counterpart...then we might see some REAL change.

Trump will have to fuck up BIG to implode...I dont see it happening....hell the media itself has been trying to light that implosion fuse and nothing they hrow on him sticks because THEY are considered by most to be part of the whole conspiracy we call a government.....

I cant wait for the debates...I suspect Trump is gonna hand them their asses because they actually want and need the job way more than Trump does.....

Trump will appeal to the trd neck Republicans, and be hated by the liberal Republicans.

It's all about the voters in the middle, the rest will vote for a fool if he wears the tight colour rosette.

And the businesses funding the whole show, on that count Trump has it sown up.

Will he beat Hilary and if he does which way does he go. For America or himself? History is where you look for the answer.

I think it depends on the moderator. If the moderator is good, he or she will make sure everyone answers the questions, stay on topic, and not let anyone run on past the allotted time. Everyone on stage has to get equal time. If Trump tries to be his usual bombastic self he will hopefully be asked to respect the rules or get kicked off stage.

They might not be able to. For sure Trump will get some loud cheers from people in the audience, and some politicians will be forced to address him, comment, or answer just to satisfy the audience.

Plus you know if they ignore him, Trump will just call them weaklings after that anyway.

What I would really, really love to see, are questions put forward that only seasoned politicians can answer.

no American cares that you want trump to be bypassed in the debates, on account that he's not already a shitstained politician, as if they have some sort of stellar reputation. but hey, thanks for showing your lack of tolerance- the true liberal view.

I hope he peels their political skins back to reveal what worthless little creatures each of them really is. If he is in swagger mode the rest are doomed.

Thankfully (?), we have Fox News here in the Philippines through SkyCable so I can watch the debate live. Should be interesting.

Is it just me or does Megyn Kelley have an all-too-masculine jaw line? Still attractive though.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the debate.

I'm leaning towards it being more of a SLOW, CIVIL debate instead of the verbal equivalent of a WWE SMACKDOWN FREE-FOR-ALL.
