PornHub turned into Netflix for porn

the info might be old news for you, but Pornhub has launched its premium offer. Only $9.99 per month.

Good or bad thing for the biz?

I think that whoever does their marketing and keeps them relevant in mainstream press should get a raise.

PornHub and Jeff @ Gamelink are the only two companies I see mentioned often in mainstream press, and it's pure marketing savvy. Nobody else in adult is doing anything like that, and it's marketing 101.

They've had a premium offer for a while now btw.

Lykos 08-06-2015 08:13 AM

Netflix model for porn will work really nice am sure !

VTRL Media 08-06-2015 08:33 AM

This must mean that Mindgeek's paysites have been taking a huge dive.

Best-In-BC 08-06-2015 08:43 AM

Another idea i had that no one thought was a good idea, like tubes 12 years ago, I coudlnt get thomas to invest.

vending_machine 08-06-2015 09:05 AM

I wouldn't be hi-fivin' the marketing team that much, mainstream loves clickbait. TechCrunch has been swinging off their nutz for months.

What took then so long?

DVTimes 08-06-2015 10:09 AM

The whole internet is Netflix for porn, and there's no subscription fee.

Well first of all Netflix doesn't have a free side to it. it's cheap but you gotta pay.

plaster 08-06-2015 08:02 PM

I wish Netflix had porn with a keyword search function

Paul Markham 08-07-2015 02:31 AM

Mindgeek, or Manwin, aren't in business for the good of their competition. So is it good for them?

$9.99 without affiliate costs is a pretty good deal for them. It will convert higher than those competing at $29.99.

Can they continue to shoot new content with only "1-30,000 views or 1-5,000 clicks" converting??????

I use the numbers as an example.

Clearly the days of recorded mainstream porn selling are limited.

As Bronco says "The whole internet is Netflix for porn, and there's no subscription fee."

Best quote of yours I have ever read !! :thumbsup:thumbsup

Mutt 08-07-2015 04:11 AM

So they're going to charge people for content including videos from the Content Partner program?

mopek1 08-07-2015 04:21 AM

So $9.99/month gets it to you in HiDef and allows you to access a few apps?

I don't get why anyone would pay. I'm sure some will but is this genius marketing? ... hardly.

Netflix conveniently has everything in one location available on ALL your devices including your big fucking TV screen, the quality of each product delivered is consistently high and there are no annoying not to mention stoopid ads, popups, redirects or malwares.

You get what you pay for.

Even I would pay $9.95 a month to kick back on the sofa with the wife just to watch a few decent porn videos from the sponsors I push like Joymii or X-Art. Despite the fact that I already can for free with an HDMI cable and a few mouse clicks.

Barry-xlovecam 08-07-2015 07:10 AM

I am sure it is just a coincidence.

The move was logical and I am surprised it took that long to happen.

Now, will Mindgeek be able to protect the premium paid content it will offer -- the shoe is on the other foot now ...

nikki99 08-07-2015 07:12 AM

where is mikesouth?

Kafka 08-07-2015 07:43 AM

TheSquealer 08-07-2015 08:09 AM

The change was in the subscription price? Or ? Just the multi device and the apps for mobile?

Thanks for saying this ... I read response after response in this thread and wondered the exact same thing each time.

HowlingWulf 08-07-2015 09:09 AM

NatalieK 08-07-2015 05:42 PM

j3rkules 08-16-2015 11:43 AM

Just a few comments:

If you have to pay for porn, you are woefully unskilled at finding things online...

The porn pay model is the opposite of the mainstream models, It seems as though these pay porn sites offer less than the free ones.

Why does anyone pay for porn? It is free at thousands of websites. Hence, the real growth of the Internet.

Kelli58 08-16-2015 10:25 PM

The big difference is that Netflix pays to license all the movies they stream to customers. PornHub can't say as much.
