It's amazing how quickly a life can end

A friend of mine - a friend of a friend really - has a 12 year old kid. Three nights ago she work them in the middle of the night with a stomach ache. That morning they found themselves in urgent care, and by afternoon they were in the ER. Turns out their child had some kind of fast moving cancer that had attacked and shut down her kidneys. She died a few days later.

Their 12 year old daughter went from healthy to dead in a matter of seventy-two hours.

It's insane what we take for granted in life, I mean lose a grand gambling, get a DUI, get robbed, it might seem horrible but the truth is thousands of lives end a day at all ages.

It's hard but you have to just appreciate life, it can end any moment for any reason.

well, that wouldn't be the first time you said something outrageous without any evidence.

Man that sucks, Be glad for your health, it's everything. I didn't think I'd live as long as I have so far and I'm still healthy. Now I plan on living a lot longer. Dad is still doing great and so is my mom who has survived Cancer a couple times.

Axeman 08-14-2015 12:49 PM

Yes, life goes fast sometimes. 11 days ago my friend and her fiancee both drowned in a boating mishap. 9 days before their wedding. Funeral / Memorial was held last night instead of their wedding reception. Very sad.

djroof 08-14-2015 01:51 PM

This really sucks... :(

aka123 08-14-2015 02:34 PM

Not really. It is amazing that how much longer we live in these days than in the days when our specie was "born".

NatalieK 08-14-2015 04:20 PM

So sorry to hear about your sad news, all the best to your friends, may they stay strong :(

Cyndalie 08-15-2015 07:03 AM

OMG, that is a parents worst nightmare. :( My heart goes out to them.

j3rkules 08-15-2015 07:22 AM

It happens, there is nothing you can do about it.

Natural selection at work. The wonders of life.

Your idiocy is only exceeded by your consistent determination to demonstrate it time after time.

Just found out I lost my best friend last night, he was the best man at my wedding. To a hit and run driver. They caught him. I hope he gets shanked in prison

That's terrible but I would would say she was "apparently healthy." I've known a few. Many cancers (stomach, liver, pancreas - generally the guts) can be asymptomatic and go undetected until they spread to areas that shut the system down. Many of those cancers have a 1-5 month life expectancy on average - but some go much quicker. Once it makes the kidneys or liver (bile ducts) go out of whack, you're done. She may have had it for quite some time, but it wouldn't have been detected save for a body scan.

I couldn't imagine what I would go through if something like this happened to one of my kids. Especially that quick. Man, that really sucks. My heart goes out to your friend's family, and you, Rochard. No parent should ever outlive their children.

Relic 08-15-2015 11:50 PM

How unfortunate.

loreen 08-16-2015 01:12 AM

Almost same story in Romania a few days ago.
A 11 years old girl went on a vacation with her grandparents, got a rare meningitis virus.. Went to the hospital with fever and a stomach ache... dead a couple of hours later.

Horrible.
