Warning about Onsist AntiPiracy

My companies run a clean operation, so when an anti-piracy firm decides to blanket DMCA a whole subdomain over a single image which is actually not copyright infringement I get a little pissed off.

https://www.onsist.com

This copyright outfit, rather than send us a DMCA, decided to go the Google route first and managed to have an entire subdomain removed from search. Even worse, the claim wasn't a valid one.

We've counter notified to have the subdomain re-instated and will be pleased to deal with these idiots in court.

I encourage others to check their sites and ensure that these cowboys haven't hit your site also.

If anyone is against copyright infringement it's me and as a result we have very effective processes in place to deal with copyright complaints. These companies that try to rack up points by simply blanket submitting to Google are one of the reasons genuine copyright grievances aren't given the serious attention they deserve.

Sign of the times.

Onsist have apologised and asked Google to re-instate the taken down links and this has already happened.

It does pay to be careful about companies sending a blanket DMCA for your whole site, otherwise you can suffer considerable loss as a result.

So, I'm glad Onsist have resolved the problem after I complained to them. However it's a good lesson for everyone - check your site against DMCAs or better yet have Google Webmaster Tools for all of your sites so you can easily pick up on these issues.

Great news, I hope these scammers are gone for good.

Nobody suggested they were scammers, I certainly didn't. I said they seemed like cowboys.

There are lots of companies that offer DMCA services. There are a few who are clumsy with their DMCAs, so unless you want to get sued for a false DMCA claim then you should look at someone with a reputation

examples of competent DMCA companies are:

Take Down Piracy - Takedown Piracy | The leading name in content protection services
Remove Your Content - Remove Your Content

Thanks for the two links... One seems to be some never ending "cul de sac" blowing the horn of some adult award and the other has a postal contact :error

At least the onsist guys have a site and tell you the cost up front.... i who is loosing 1000s every month to pirates will not mind a bit of overkill. I think its called a " collateral damage".

Or some other idea?

Both Nate & Eric of those two companies do a great job.

If you want a DMCA spammer who doesn't actually properly check what they send Google then feel free to use someone else.

Emailed them a courtesy letter, which resulted in an apology in reply and retraction of the complaint / reinstatement of those urls. They also promised to use our DMCA reporting address before going straight to Google.

Why they can have a site where you can read, contact and have some testimonials ??

To be frank I did not even know services like that existed, I have three people part time chasing it manually and getting nowhere....and i like the personal touch onsist offers.

However I am always willing to listen. I am being robbed blind and as I said a bit of "collateral damage" i will live with.

But also my issue would be that some of the former "big" pirates of my content are now my affiliates and making legit money, so I may have a dilemma, I do not want somebody bothering them. I guess its like SEO everybody knows everything but really they know not.

I am so fucking confused :(

Went to Google today... These fucks took my whole library and have over 20,000 free views of movies which cost about 30 $$ / download.

Home - Best Erotica

no contact on the site, hiding, thieves...as I said, collateral damage is coming. Learning fast:thumbsup

Check your stuff they have it all !!

That's a piracy blog (piracy source site) , the downloadable content sits on depfile.com (piracy sink site).

That's a file locker, like the many we worked on taking down in the Stop File Lockers project. You should immediately DMCA the file locker (depfile.com), the blog (best--erotica.com) and if the content is not removed send a DMCA to Google to have the results of your content removed from search.

Edit: The blog's domain contact details is hidden behind WHOIS Privacy, however the registrar is resellerclub.com - [email protected] - you should create a ticket with a DMCA demanding that the domain be suspended ResellerClub Team - Helpdesk

celandina 08-31-2015 09:23 AM

1) Filed DMCA take down with depfile.com ( they re uploaded almost instantly so sent another one and suggested next time I will go to Google to de list them... Today still states " content removed due to copyright complaint"
2) Filed with Google against the best erotica and their mirror site.
3) Filed a complaint with privacyprotect.org against best erotica

Did not yet ( or am aware) what and where is DMCA domain suspension, but will look into it.

Thanks a lot AK :thumbsup

FYI: did spent most of the weekend doing it, and its really tiring. i am willing to pay for it and have actually sent e mail to one of the companies suggested here....

celandina 09-02-2015 06:02 AM

Anybody any info on DMCA.com is it just a coincidence or are they part of some "quasi governmental" establishment ???

They want $199 per take down..... I have currently at least 200 takedowns re ady to go I know about... God help me if somebody adds the 1000's I do not yet know about.

I am now actively looking for somebody reliable and reasonable to retain. Will also contact the 2 AK suggested.

We give power in society to those who feel the most victimized, its why we are all getting mentally weaker.
