"these trophies will be given back until they EARN a real trophy. I'm sorry I'm not sorry for believing that everything in life should be earned and I'm not about to raise two boys to be men by making them believe that they are entitled to something just because they tried their best...cause sometimes your best is not enough, and that should drive you to want to do better...not cry and whine until somebody gives you something to shut u up and keep you happy. #harrisonfamilyvalues"

Oh noes...but, but...what about their self-esteem?

Good for Harrison, I say. A guy who practices what he preaches. We could use more of him.

Nicely slapped those weaklings/liberals/social engineers :thumbsup

bushwacker 08-16-2015 12:46 PM

Good for him. Rewards should be earned, and not given just for showing up.

On a side note, Harrison is one of the few people that if I ever ran into in a dark alley I would turn and run. :1orglaugh

They should make mementos for kids to remind them where they went and what they did, but don't make them trophies and especially don't use the word "participation" in any way with them. That way kids will earn their trophies/awards for doing good and everyone also gets something fun..

Harrison understand failure and hard work. He was undrafted in 2002 which basically means "you suck and the NFL doesn't want you" but worked his way into the starting lineup as a walk-on, selected for five Pro Bowls, and the 2008 NFL defensive player of the year award. He has two Super Bowl rings.

Even without all that - any quality person knows that you must earn trophies, not get them so that your feelings won't get hurt.

They (liberal parasites) want to pussyfy people.

No trophies, just slap the kid up side of the head and tell him to do better or find somewhere else to live.

I love how some people love to turn this into a political issue. I have plenty of conservative friends who proudly display they kids participation trophies and ribbon. One friend of mine, an Obama hating card carrying republican, has a son that is playing football. At the grade he is at every student is guaranteed to play a certain number of plays each game. his son is smart and a great kid, but not very athletic so he only ever plays the minimum he is required. My buddy will sit their on the sideline and keep track, making sure his son gets his minimum number of plays and if he doesn't he complains loudly to the couch.

Does he post daily pictures on Facebook of his kids, too?

I've been blocking people it's gotten so bad.

Most of the kids today lack the desire to survive without anybodies help.everything is practically handed to them.what happens when daddies wallet dries up.

The only ones that need participation mementos are the parents... specifically the moms.
they have to have the bedazzled t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, yearbooks, and a million f*cking pictures, all which will never been seen again of ever looked at once the season is over.

Lets call those tshirts.

That works well but is Not in any way confused with a trophy.

"Participation trophies" take the entire point out of trophies.

"Loser trophies"; what idiot actually wants one?

Good call.

Let them keep the jerseys/uniform if they so wish. That's a nice one, too, not some throwaway trinket.

Good job Jimmy, You are a real role model in addition to being on of the best linebackers in the history of the game!
