I notice there's no option to turn off one of the most contentious changes, sending data about your application usage to Microsoft.

That is the main reason I stick to fedora and windows 8.1 on my PC.
I was testing Windows 10 for a while (last 3 builds), and it was great. But the privacy issues was to much. |
Still ain't updrading ...

My 4 fixes would be something along the lines of:
- Burn an ISO of a version of Linux of my choice - Zero-fill my hard drive with something like Active KillDisk - Flash my motherboard bios with a bios from the manufacturer, as Windows 10 tampers with it - Install Linux from the DVD I just burned :2 cents: |

disable internet connections and you are safe.

For the record I do not have Windows 10 yet. I've always been more of a "wait until service pack 1" kind of guy when new incursions come out, and I think I'll be that guy in this instance too. I'm seeing a lot of favorable reviews of Win 10 but also a lot of comments about mostly minor problems but problems nonetheless.
There are tons of reviews out there of course, many that seem to just be blowing MS, but here is about as fair, detailed, and balanced a review as you're likely to see: Windows 10 review | The Verge |
