Used to run a dozen blogs 10+ years ago. Should I get back into the game?
Look, I was never big into the game.. making thousands of dollars or anything like that. I ran some of my own affiliate blogs and used GFY and an adult webmaster channel on IRC about 10-12 years ago to try and make side-cash while in college. At my BEST I was probably doing about 400-600 a month. I sold all my sites to a single buyer when I couldn't keep up with them anymore because of work and tube sites where starting to come out hot and heavy. Now I got some spare time and used to LOVE getting a new site going/adding content and starting to see traffic coming in from google and finally getting that first conversion was like holy shit!! I'd rather be spending the time I have now doing something constructive on the computer and making a couple hundred bucks than wasting away my time.
So my question is: Starting a wordpress blog now-a-days. viable? hostgator still legit? what's a good domain reg site currently popular with the crowd? I feel like I'm going to have to relearn a lot but I like things like that and it should be fun. I just need some words of encouragement I guess that let me feel like I could get back into things. Any advice would be amazing. GFY always did me proud back in the day :pimp |
Whats up.... your in the same boat I am... I took a 15 year break now recently came back... seems like the tube sites are the new fad... tgp still kicking strong to it seems...not sure about blogs you might have to ask the other guys about that lol

Hah! yah I hear ya. I tarted one TGP before I left the game.. I dunno, those just feel shitty to me. just everyone circle-jerking the same traffic around and around. Conversion rates were horrible. I much prefer blogs where people are coming to your site from goggle and not another TGP. welcome back man! If I ever get a site going if it seems still viable I'll hit you up and we can progress together!

Real talk if you keep it original and work hard specially in blogging you can make it bro. For registrar I like namecheap and hosting you can try stablehost just make sure getting your dedicated ip. Good luck and have fun!

if you happy doing 3$ an hour yes then its okay, for 3rd world guys maybe

Get some domain, host and a great responsive theme and then add an unique content to it.
|
Hostgator was viable but then they sold out to venture capital and has gone downhill from there.
Do yourself a favor and select a host which still cares, I for one recommend Amerinoc been hosting with them since 2009 and still very happy. For registering domains, Namecheap is easy and has acceptable prices. |
You have to go niche. People still pay for porn that caters to their very specific fetishes. For example, there's tons of free handjob porn all over the tubes. BUT, foot-smelling handjobs... if you have fresh quality content in that niche, people pay for it.
It's all about the longtail. |
I'm still making good money off of blogging (I mean with Wordpress you can create blogs that look like tube sites or different kinds of image and videos galleries) but I focus on creating a lot of blogs rather then just having a few big ones.
I use Namesilo for regs (free privacy for life and some of the cheapest prices) and Ramnode, VULTR, and Leaseweb for VPSes. |
Blogging alone won't work if your content doesn't stand out. You should have a excellent SEO strategy to make it work.

Anyone have some experience and wisdom to share about running lots of smaller blogs and actually keeping them updated - without taking up the entire work day? |
You are in the same situation as me. Here is my 2 cent:
- Platform: Blogging with Wordpress. - Domain registrar: Go with Namecheap. - Hosting: Amerinoc, HawkHost are 2 best ones. - Writer: Hire some skilled writers in GFY, but you have to test them first! If you need any advice, do not hesitate to ask. Good luck. |
The main difference you'll experience from how it was 10 years ago is that things are just harder.
There are more competitors, more niche saturation, more noise, more advertising-blindness, more adblockers, more automation tools that let more people create more sites, more defenses against black/grey hat strategies, more awareness of dark patterns that the adult industry historically relied on, and just *more*. That said, there's also a lot more bullshit. Building quality stuff still works, so carry on if that was your plan. :) |
Another vote for Namecheap.

A lot of potential
There is a lot of potential in blogging, you just need to find the right niche. Once you have found it keep working at it. Research, explore, blog and do a lot of link building.
Good luck! |
Do yourself a favor and research the host you pick!
Also remember that you can save hours of planning with days of work ;) Welcome back! |
NameCheap.com for domain registrar. You can find better deals than HostGator.com, check out WebHostingTalk.com. You could probably focus on just one blog, and keep adding content (pictures + videos) to that, and work on it over a longer period of time. It wont take you far overnight.
