Russians have a well known inferiority complex. They were very weakened for decades. Now that the people don't completely live like pigs they feel the need to puff their chest. A small historical note: the only Soviet citizens that were allowed to leave the USSR were need to be Jaws. That's was the only ethnic group of people allowed to emigrate from Soviet Union.
