Dedicated Server Experience With VACares
 

Well, I've contacted Sly on the forum and asked about his dedicated server offerings. I told him I'd review his services provided by VACares.com as a thank you for the deal I got through him and today I am doing so honestly.

Yes, I do get a referral, but mentioning my name incredibleworkethic will bring you a better deal.

From the moment I purchased, to the follow up and the timing, so far, everything is running flawless. Now it's only about a month in right now, which is way too early for a review, but I do have to recommend good customer service when I see it.

Here's the order on how things went down:

1. Inquiry about services.
2. His offerings.
3. My counter offer. (it's a negotiation when you want a good deal)
4. His acceptance of terms.
5. Promise to have the server deployed next day (it was a weekend).
6. Server setup the next day on time.
7. I uploaded my sites and changed nameservers.
8. Ran into a small issue with permissions, but I just emailed their support and it was handled within an hour or less.
9. Server has been rocking since day one. Sites work as expected. :)
10. Follow up review to be posted.

What I liked about Sly is that he's a board regular here and knows that people are here to get a premium, functional product. Dedicated servers fuel businesses and having a website that always works is a priority.

++ He fine tuned my server and made it known that he'd do it for any customer. Recently he installed a caching script on my server combined with the wordpress cache plugin I have. It seems to be even faster than how I set it up.

++ He keeps following up via Skype about my experience.

Cons

- Small company, however, he seems to run it like the big boys. He has contingency plans in place should something happen personally to him (god forbid). I had to ask those questions. We're talking about livelihoods here.

Perhaps VACares.com will be able to help you figure out a dedicated server solution for your mainstream or adult sites - all you have to do is ask Ryan (AKA Sly, skype limpgringo) about his deals and tell him incredibleworkethic sent you for a super deal.

What specs did you get at what price ? Is it fully managed ?

Sly gave me a reach around with mine, you should have held out for him to "sweeten" the deal.

I got a basic one at a really good price because I negotiated, plus we do other business which probably helped. I really can't say the price, I was asked to keep that confidential, but whatever is listed on his website, I'm sure you can negotiate something for sure that works for you and his company.

Fully managed. I would say so (I would clarify what you consider fully managed before buying). I didn't do a damn thing and I don't really know everything about servers except specs, so my hand definitely was held during the setup and optimization of the server.

Oh, I forgot, he insisted on moving my files over for me but I find it fun so I chose to do so myself. :)

So no specs, no price ?

I'm happy with how things turned out. He does help me with currency transfers all the time, so we help each other if different ways in the end.

I'll let him respond to this. I got his basic server with an added second hard drive (on the fly copy). Specs are on Vacares - Dedicated Servers, CDN Hosting, Backup Hosting.

I'm respecting his wishes and letting everyone work out their own deals.

Whether I pay $200 or $10, the service was and remains great so far. :thumbsup

Server has been running since day 1. I know 60 days is nothing, but I haven't had a problem with server speed, load time or anything.

Anyone can do well in most spaces if they follow that principle.

they are just a reseller of ovh, im using the same host (ovh), what i pay for $120 a month is listed on there site as $350 a month.

Im guessing that is cause they manage it for you.

I was my server failed (had it since 2009), and to get a new server it was very pricey for very minimal stuff.

I do miss the great support YF has though, usally under 5 min response times for tickets.

I can't complain though it was a free server from 2009-2016

3 years later... still with Sly / Vacares.com.
