It's Always Sunny in Miami. Would love to be there for the "discovery" phase when MetArt open MG like a can of worms.

SilentKnight 08-30-2015 06:28 PM

This should prove interestin'... :)

arock10 08-30-2015 06:37 PM

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh - GFY members doing business with them can start shitting in pants now. So we have the Hydentra lawsuit and the investigation for money laundering going on. Not a good Q3 for MG I'd say.

Why I am not surprised.

Google Expert 08-31-2015 03:03 AM

go get them MetArt

Paul Markham 08-31-2015 03:26 AM

The suit is the latest action by MetArt. The company has filed numerous other infringement claims, including those against the operators of XVideos.com, Sex.com, AdultPornVideoxx.com, JoJoBaa.net, Motherless.com, KPorno.com, Pornias.com, LikePorno.com, SpankBang.com, Porn69.biz, Porn69.org, PornHub88.com, Sex88.org, PornoWow.com, Tubenn.com, Wixvi.so, Wixvi.com, HDPorn1080.com, HDPorn1080.net, SexTVx.com, SexSeeVideo.net and PornVideoXO.com.
How did these suits fare?

Also what's the legal stance on DMCA law that the URLs Met-Art supplied were or were not on the premium site?

I hope Met-Art win or open the books to find a can of worms. Hopefully something that will get the tax people involved.

As it turns out they were around the whole time and all the people who said the Mansef to Manwin thing was just a cover were pretty much spot on.

signupdamnit 08-31-2015 06:16 AM

Imagine how differently things would have went for the paysite side of the industry if everyone did this circa 2008.

Yeah, instead the industry joined in.
Weird. Like native Americans joining the US Cavalry as scouts back in the day.

I hope MET ART realize they have the power to change the landscape in adult in a massively POSITIVE way.

Magnetron 08-31-2015 06:35 AM

There's a special place in Hell for everyone that continues to do business with upload tubes.

It's an adjoining room with Politicians next door.

And Dick Cheney stops by every Thursday evening to water board you.

People actually tried to get paysites to team up on something like this back then, only few were interested.

I know. I remember watching it. I think that is where the inspiration for the movie "The Human Centipede" came from-- watching the Bros in the adult industry join their mouths to the asses of the tube owners.

The Porn Nerd 08-31-2015 01:11 PM

So:

1. How many of those lawsuits mentioned in the XBiz article has Met-Art won?
2. How much $$$ has Met-Art made off these lawsuits?
3. Does Met-Art now make more $ filing lawsuits then it does selling monthly porn memberships?

Inquiring minds and all that. :)

mikesouth 08-31-2015 02:24 PM

I suspect the answer to the why didnt this happen years ago comes down to "timing is everything"

Things arent looking so great for MindGeek these days Im hearing Fabian is even sweating...he has burned through a lot of money to stay out of jail and his trial hasnt even started yet...now if the Feds get to him and HE starts talking a lot of the "bro club" is gonna be in deep shit.

anyone closely associated with Mansef/Manwin/MindGeek should be sweating big time because its coming...prolly not soon...certainly not soon enough but it IS coming.

100 may be on the low end dependent on how they do their copyrights. There's infringement on 500+ unique URLs, which could mean statutory damages on each URL.

That could potentially bring the amount to $75m.

I'm guessing the premium section is filled with misappropriated movies. Maybe time for programs to get their DMCA agents on it and make a list.
We are.

The lawsuit regards the sponsor content that Mindgeek put in a member's section, free of sponsor ads, and started to charge for without permission and in many cases were told specifically NOT to do.

A bunch of companies are pretty upset about it, us included. I know other companies are also planning on taking action.

Ironic isn't it, that the companies that supported them over the years are the ones getting fucked over and will now be the ones that actually take the legal actions everyone has begged for all these years; cue the Mike South "I told you so" he has waited years to tell me.

:upsidedow

Go ahead, guess I have it coming...

Man up and make it right. For your karma, eviscerate those pieces of thieving shit.
You will be loved, admired and respected and something tells me business will improve many times over for everyone.

Please coalesce the adult program owners who have been screwed into a group that changes our communally bleakish future in its present course. You have that power, Far-L.

They also have the power and the choice to settle it out and let everyone deal with it on their own. Everyone might be cheering MetArt's actions but keep in mind that MetArt is doing what is good for MetArt, and they aren't acting out of some sort of industry-wide altruism.

That isn't a slight against them. That is just business and since no one else is paying for all those filings you can't blame them at all for acting in self interest of the company.

Putting together a group and dealing with it is certainly an option, but talking it out and dealing with it b2b and resolving it without throwing money at an army of $500 hr attorneys is another option too.

99% chance that is exactly how it will play out... neither MetArt nor MG are idiots, neither of them want to spend big bucks on a legal battle that will likely drag out for years... so they will reach some deal, and few months from now the whole suit will be forgotten... :2 cents:

Except MindGeek can afford to provide their own content, which qualifies them as idiots.

And the only reason they have the financial capacity to settle out of court is because of the untold number of idiots in this industry helping line the pockets of MG in one way or another.

I hope you and everyone else sues because believe me when I tell you MindGeek does NOT want their books interrogated, they do NOT want some forensic accountant looking at all their shell corps and making connections to people on ...say the Kingpin list....

Its been a long time coming but its coming....
