Fear the Walking Dead

Really, no threads yet?

I think it's a slow but promising start.

Opt!musPr!me 09-01-2015 04:22 PM

What Chu Talking Bout Willis

RyuLion 09-01-2015 04:25 PM

There are scarier movies than the walking dead, there's way more drama in it than horror..

j3rkules 09-01-2015 04:25 PM

So far, so meh. The only reason I know who I am supposed to care about by who they have shown the most. I really am not interested in the junkie kid or what happens to him. His sister seems really flat as well, although towards the end when she was allowed to show some concern for others, she started to feel a little less two dimensional.

There was little momentum with the show, and that was frustrating.

A trivial but dumb thing - the mom gets the cabinet partially opened, but then puts down the pry bar so that she can wrassle the door with her bare hand?

I did like the topical aspect of the protest/riot over police shootings, and the riot foreshadowing a zombie horde.

MaDalton 09-01-2015 04:33 PM

I think they want to show how it slowly goes from normal over some first weird incidents to catastrophic and took into consideration that the hardcore gore fans might be a bit let down for the first episodes. At least i hope so

acctman 09-01-2015 06:14 PM

that show sucks... not missing anything

RebelR 09-01-2015 06:32 PM

I'm not one to complain about slow episodes, as I feel that character development is important, but after two episodes, I just don't care if any of the main characters get eaten. The only one I wouldn't want to see eaten is the weird pizza faced kid in school. Anyone else think it was weird that they didn't grab the cart full of food after all the effort of wheeling it through the school?

I just watched ep 2 sgain and thought exactly that

I think the characters were in total shock over what happened by not only being attacked by the school principal...but then killing him.

Remember, these characters (unlike the one is the normal Walking Dead show) are just now seeing these things for the first time and watching their normal lives crumble.

Yes, in the Walking Dead show...Rick would have killed that principal in 2 seconds and then kept gathering food. lol

sandman! 09-01-2015 07:12 PM

i watched half the first episode so far and it kind of sucked might watch some more maybe :2 cents::2 cents:

EliteWebmaster 09-01-2015 07:38 PM

It's like Z Nation 2.0 , slow, uninspiring actors.

Best-In-BC 09-01-2015 07:43 PM

I think its already 10x better than the original but I was never a fan

aka123 09-02-2015 12:37 AM

I started watching the first episode, but I stopped it for the same reason I stopped watching the Walking Dead at season 5 or something like that; too grim.

I don't really watch horror movies (actual movies) at these days. I get just enough and sometimes too much real fear of death from my leisure activities. I don't really like the fear feeling in a movie or in real life, I like to do "risky" things, but I like to do those safely. Walking dead was nice survival movie for a while, until it just went grim and mass slaughter of the zombies (they pretty much kill more zombies from episode to episode).

TrainWreckContent 09-02-2015 08:58 AM

i am hoping it gets better, but i certainly am anxious for the walking dead to start again next month

mineistaken 09-02-2015 09:04 AM

I managed to miss that on here at-my.TV: TV Calendar, TV Episode Guide, TV Show Listings somehow. Thanks for heads up.

CaptainHowdy 09-02-2015 09:12 AM

Zombie Soap Opera ...

Plutocracy 09-02-2015 09:32 AM

Just like the walking dead they have to character build ;)

It's slow yes but I have a feeling it will get really really good soon :)

scuba steve 09-02-2015 09:34 AM

is this a prequel to walking dead?

Markul 09-02-2015 09:38 AM

The walking dead was Melroes Place with Zombies. Is this anything like it?

Sorta? But not quite... it shows the outbreak earlier in its history. When we met Rick and the rest of the Scooby Gang from Walking Dead, Atlanta has already fallen.

Fear the Walking Dead is more immediately after the outbreak starts. News reports are talking about a "mysterious flu" that's going on in 5 states. This series follows folks in the LA area as they deal with realizing... that's no flu, and that dead guy that we just ran over with our car is now alive again and trying to eat us. [Though, we still don't know yet how it actually all started. Patient Zero is not described]

Overall, it's a C for me. The second episode was way better than the first. I was also surprised when they didn't come out of the school with all the food (and I was wondering if somehow magically that's where Carl gets that big tub of pudding!), but was not surprised about the principal.

I'll give it a few more episodes. The initial run is only 6, and it's a good way to tide me over until October when Rick and the Gang come back.

SIK 09-02-2015 09:40 AM

I like it so far, kinda gives the creeps because it's easy to imagine the same scenario, confusion and panic in your own city

djroof 09-02-2015 09:55 AM

This series will "find" TWD in future?

mineistaken 09-02-2015 09:55 AM

They could do these spin offs in various cities, like CSI :)

Same here. 1st episode was pretty slow. Interesting to see how things are starting to become unraveled quickly. I thought the scene where the cop was loading his patrol car with water because he knew what was coming was great.

The other situation that made me think was. If something like that were to really happen (not that it would) and your neighbor was across the street getting mauled. Would you leave your family to go try and help. OR knowing that you getting hurt could potentially put your loved ones in harms way, ignore it and stay where you are.

I would like to think I would help but it raised a great moral dilemma for the characters. Looks like its everyone for themselves at this point. Time to see how ugly society can get.

I totally agree here - the 2nd episode was much stronger than the 1st. I understand character building, but I think the 2nd episode really showed much more about what would ACTUALLY happen...

Again, agreement. Watching the mom pull the daughter away from the window because she knew what was going to happen - but doing nothing to save the lady because you just had to kill someone by beating them to death with a fire extinguisher - was very real to me. I don't know if I would have went out to try to save her, either.

I like the slow-burn style, and the characters aren't the usual card-board cutouts you see in most shows. They created a huge sense of dread in the first two episodes, and showed how people might really react to the dead coming back to life. It's interesting if anything, and looks like the creators put some thought into it.

reading some reviews I have the feeling that some people are not ready to invest that much patience - if it was up to them there'd be like 500 dead zombies in every episode

i am fine with the slow progress

^ This

I personally couldn't recall any similar style show where I overly liked or cared greatly about the characters after only two episodes.

Agree.

I even like the WD season everyone complained about because the pay off at the end was so good.

jmk 09-02-2015 03:20 PM

I like it so far. Different than The Walking Dead, which is a good thing.

I wondered about the cart too but I suppose since there were other people or walkers coming in the school they had to get out and abandon it. Not sure

EddyTheDog 09-02-2015 03:41 PM

I like it - The cart thing? - Really?..

It was the kids thing - There where stairs - Dead President Obama was trying to eat them.....

They forgot about the beans - Jebus...

I think we will see more of the kid though.....

bronco67 09-02-2015 03:41 PM

Oh yeah, and the cop loading his car with water was a great scene. No need to explain it with dialogue, just a visual that might make you think WTF....because cops would know stuff before anyone else when this kind of situation develops.

I like that the writers assume the audience has a half a brain. That's how AMC operates...they're kind of like FX in that they let the creators do their thing without watering shit down with mindless advice from suits. Otherwise, shows like Breaking Bad and Mad Men could never exist as they did.

That is so awesome if so. A wicked way to introduce some new main characters as well to TWD.

Looks like Click cash Emily posted some new about the series lining up later.
Going to be a fun tv year.

brassmonkey 09-02-2015 07:02 PM

im luvin it! :thumbsup

EliteWebmaster 09-02-2015 08:57 PM

I used to like Walking Dead but seriously that show has a lot of shit filler episodes. I feel cheated wasting my time watching it sometimes.

You guys want a nice gritty show, watch Banshee. Nudity, Gore, Violence, Incest, Amish gangsters, it has it all :1orglaugh

jmk 09-03-2015 09:37 AM

Sneak Peak to Episode 3

michael.kickass 09-03-2015 09:55 AM

I liked it, not a Zombie fan but it was watchable.

Ok, so last night I have to admit I was a little let down with the episode.

Not a spoiler really but there is an over/under double barrel 12 guage used in the show. Before the person shoots it and after the person shoots it there is a pumping sound (obviously added in editing). This gun does not require or have the ability to feed with pump action. For some reason that really bothered me.

After I noticed that, there were a couple of other things that bugged me as not being realistic.

They zombies themselves aren't realistic either, mostly because there are no real zombies.

I felt like it picked up some steam last night. When it comes to this show and The Walkding Dead I have learned to look past some of the details like how in The Walking Dead their car will be shiny and new (product placement) or after months and months left untouched yards still seem well kept.
