R.E.M lead singer tells Trump to go fuck himself after theft of song..
"Go fuck yourselves, the lot of you — you sad, attention-grabbing, power-hungry little men," R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe said (via bassist Mike Mills' Twitter page). "Do not use our music or my voice for your moronic charade of a campaign."

They could have easily licensed the music without the band knowing. There is a difference between not having a license and not having the bands "social permission."
Did they have a license? Who knows. If not, I'm sure that one agency (I forget the name) will be sending a letter soon demanding money. |
i'm stunned michael stipe can type out legible words. maybe someday he can sing some.

And I remember the Pretenders raising hell about Rush Limbaugh using their song "Back To Ohio" for his theme. He's still using it to this very day. The more important issue...not this silliness that crockett latched on to...is the Iran nuclear deal. It's really starting to look like a bad deal at this point. The President has had to reach out and beg to get the Democrats to vote for it. But it seems like every day something new is being revealed about it that was deliberately kept hidden. I was kind of hoping that it would lead to some kind of friendship in the future again for Iran and the U.S. Not so sure of the whole thing now. |

leg·i·ble ˈlejəb(ə)l/ adjective (of handwriting or print) clear enough to read. Synonyms for legible coherent understandable clear decipherable there is plenty of humor to be enjoyed around stipe's singing style. and whatever that guy's name from pearl jam. and ftr, i wasn't complaining about rem, simply having a poke at stipe based on his singing style. i don't expect rock singers to be spectacular vocalists. |
His band sucks anyways

However if it's the JesusTrump stealing other people's work, then it's oh let's talk about something completely unrelated. |
Which song did he steal? Was it Shiny Happy People Laughing?
I hate that one. |

I plainly stated that BMI is the agency that collects royalties when songs are monetized. Such as Limbaugh using "Back To Ohio". A snippet of a song being played at a free public event? No. Too bad you can't understand the difference. But I guess that's how things work with crockett science. |

Limbaugh now pays a usage fee to use Back To Ohio. |
REM Unplugged 1991 - probably the best acoustic performance ever.
I remember asking our friend Steven to record that performance because we didn't have cable/MTV. Classic shit which you never forget. Monster album was bad ass New Adventures In Hi-Fi was another good album. :thumbsup |

It also happened the other day. Mike Fuckface hackable played "Eye of the Tiger" when that big clerk was released from Jail. The Band Survivor may sue. I wonder if whoever owns the movie rights to Rocky III can sue as well? LOL! Republicans.... |

By "big clerk" were you referring to that crazy obese right wing anti-gay Democrat? . |

Publishing in music works two ways. If REM doesn't own the publishing to their music anymore whoever does can licenses it to whomever they want and REM has no say in how it is use. However, if they do still won the publishing rights they can choose not to license it and it doesn't matter how much someone would want to pay.

Copyright Licensing for Mobile DJs
Some DJs have been confused in the past about carrying membership in performing arts organizations like ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC because the rules differ depending on the performance type. The way their licensing is structured, it is actually the responsibility of the venue (bar, nightclub, etc.) to maintain membership and pay royalties. DJs playing for the public (so not for private events like weddings) then provide a list to the venue of the music that was played ? that?s it. If a DJ plays for the public outside of a licensed establishment, then they are responsible for paying the royalties. This type of copyright licensing has absolutely nothing to do with weddings and private events. Just to be sure, I went straight to the source and asked these organizations directly. Here?s what they said: ?ASCAP does not license DJs. It is the venue, establishment, or promoter of an event that is responsible for public performance licensing, not the performer. Private events such as weddings, etc. are exempt from licensing.? ? Bryn Caryl, ASCAP ?BMI licenses the ?public performance? of music? events such as private parties and weddings are not required to have a license.? ? Jaqui Garlan, BMI ?Royalty fees are not collected for private performances.? ? David Derryberry, SESAC |

Trump's the kind of guy who would use a song without permission just for the free publicity.
Doesn't hurt REM either. I'm sure they've got a new project in the works that won't hurt from this exposure. |
