They're remaking Roadhouse, starring Rhonda Rousey in the Swayze role

Rousey to star in reboot of Road House: UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is starring in a reboot of the 1980s cult classic "Road House." Rousey will be taking over Patrick Swayze?s role. She is currently meeting with screenwriters, with production set to begin in 2016. Released in 1989, the original film starred Swayze as a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest, loudest bars in Missouri, The Double Deuce.

Will anyone in the movie have the nuts to call it the Double Douche this go-round?

Highest Def 09-10-2015 01:22 PM

I thought you'd be bigger....

I am a Rousey fan but she may be blowing up too fast. By the time the movie comes out, no one could care about her anymore.

Look how fast that Bruce Jenner nonsense died down. I know that's apples and oranges, just saying that the public's interest can shift without notice.

She was good in Entourage and Expendables.. good, not great.

nico-t 09-10-2015 01:32 PM

do they have bags at the theatres to turn in your balls for the guys who go and see this?

MrBottomTooth 09-10-2015 02:34 PM

Swayze was a half decent actor. Rousey is almost unwatchable. She makes Gina Carano seem like Meryl Streep. I found myself cringing everytime she said her lines.

Yeah she's awful at line delivery. Worst offense in Furious 7 with her awful one-liners. I thought she was almost tolerable in Expendables, but I go into that movie expecting way over-the-top cheesiness so I may have been blinded.

BUUUUT, I think she's crazy hot. Would totally pay her to knock me out in the ring, so chances are, I'll watch it. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Of all the great stories out their,,,,,, reboot of Road House:disgust

Mr Pheer 09-10-2015 09:31 PM

She should play Patrick Bateman in a remake of American Psycho.

MFCT 09-11-2015 01:34 AM

She's the Mike Tyson of our day. A legend in the making. Keep an eye on her.

If not for the lack of acting ability I might have agreed with you.

In an interview Kelly said that her husband got calls from Bill Murray everytime Roadhouse was on TV to tell him that he saw Patrick Swayze having sex with his wife. Apparently it was on TV a lot. If it wasn't Bill it was one of his brothers filling in

DavieVegas 09-11-2015 02:01 PM

Will 100% flop..They will make the original that much better if its not a classic already

If they had Mike Tyson as the lead in the reboot, I would watch it. Mike Tyson aint faking it

AmeliaG 09-11-2015 04:15 PM

I could probably touch myself to that. TMI?

bronco67 09-11-2015 06:54 PM

I wouldn't have a problem with it if she could act.

Scowling is not acting. Patrick Swayze was Lawrence Olivier compared to her.

SilentKnight 09-11-2015 07:01 PM

Enough with the fuckin' remakes and reboots. Leave well enough alone.

Don't mess with classics.

georgeyw 09-11-2015 07:03 PM

Why are they remaking these movies but changing the whole storyline?

Ghostbusters, Fantastic 4 and now Roadhouse.

Don't get me wrong, I like Rhonda as a fighter, as an actor she is quite unremarkable.

Lonny 09-11-2015 07:05 PM

This is got to be a joke right? The original was decent. To reboot this the Goonies and a bunch of other 80 flicks their gonna ruin it as they always do. Did not know she even was in Furious 7. That's news to me as well.

She's fighting in a women's division with no one close to her level so of course it makes her look good.

Should we start a pool on whose ear she will bite off?

Or maybe which side of her face she will tattoo?

Need video of you doing that in order to make a better determination of it being TMI or not.

Jross 09-11-2015 09:41 PM

someone needs to please knock her out....

Spunky 09-11-2015 09:58 PM

Stick to knocking women out ,can't see her as an actress

EliteWebmaster 09-11-2015 10:03 PM

She was awful at WWE Wrestlemania delivering her lines too. And the WWE has pretty low standards for "acting". She is an above average looking girl who is very talented at beating up other girls. That's the depth of her talent. Anyone else trying to stretch it out into other avenues like her acting in a movie or worst yet, headlining a movie is a stupid director who should not get another project.

bronco67 09-12-2015 03:51 AM

Some people could take all the acting classes in the world, and they won't get it.

From what I've seen her do so far, she's one of those people.

I remember back when Tanya Harding was in the news alot and because of her notoriety she landed a role in a low budget movie. The news was interviewing the other members of the cast to see how she did and all one guy could come up with was, "She hit her marks and said her lines."

I have a feeling Ronda might be the same. She's a great fighter, but that doesn't make a great actor.

CDSmith 09-13-2015 10:08 AM

The question of whether she can act is a non-starter. The thinking probably is more along the lines of will a ton of people go see it anyway just to see her/seehow she does/see her flop/...and of course see her kick ass. She's taken the world of women's fighting by storm and is an instantly big enough name that the question of will it make money is all that counts.

Jean Claude Van Damne has never been accused of being a master thespian either. Neither has Segal or even Chuck Norris for that matter, yet all of those guys have sizeable movie fan bases. No reason Rowdy Ronda can't do the same.. After all, someone has to be the one churning out the next ten year batch of bad martial arts movies, may as well be her.

Hardly. You now have me looking forward to the release.

And then there's this...

Quote:

road house (1989) starring patrick swayze, is being re-imagined and getting a 3d performance technology make-over to star none other than patrick swayze, again.

http://livecamnetwork.com/bbs-pictures/1211.jpg

Director rowdy herrington: "fans of the road house movie disliked the sequel, road house 2, for all kinds of reasons. "it was a bad film", says rowdy, "and it didn't have the cast and characters you loved from the first film. My new film brings it all back, including swayze". Yesterday, yours truly along with a select people were invited to digital domain in venice, calif. To get a sneak peak at the new 3d performance technology rowdy and paramount we will use to put patrick back in the high kicking hard-punching action at road house. "it's amazing what can be done with technology" says rowdy. "we will have an actor playing patrick's dalton character, but replace his face and body with patrick's face, and then de-aged accordingly similar to the process made famous in tron: Legacy and the curious case of benjamin button" sadly, andy serkis will not be available but others on our short list include steven r mcqueen (jeremy of vampire diaries)

sam elliott, kelly lynch, kevin tighe and julie michaels ("denise") reprise their rolls. Ron perlman, nina dobrev, eva green co stars

when asked who will replace the jeff healy band for the re imagined road house: "we are in talks with miley ray cyrus but no decision has been made yet".

Road house hits the theatres summer 2016.

I would imagine that technology is similar to, or the same as, what was used in the new Terminator.

Pretty neat technology, looks a little funny yet. In 10 years they will have it nailed I'm sure.

Porn starring Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio? Maybe JFK?

sinclair 09-13-2015 11:49 AM

only way I watch it is if she gives Sam Elliot a handy while he screams 'Beef Its Whats For Dinner'

VikingMan 09-13-2015 01:05 PM

They are going to have to work around the fact she cannot act at all.

Yeah Mike would have been awesome starring in action movies. That's the direction he should have taken after his fighting career had ended. Maybe he either can't act, or he's too unreliable to show up on set. IDK, but any action movie he'd make, anyone would love to see.

Just like it made Mike look good. No one was close to his level either. The more fights he had, remaining undefeated, the bigger a celebrity he became. Same will happen with Ronda. I'm happy for her.

Plus, my GF looks up to her as a role model. She's in great shape, but she's determined to achieve the same level of physical fitness that Ronda has. She's a great role model for all women.
