Right now I have 3 HPs on my desk. Two of them are 4 years old, one of them is three years old. I need to give them all a good cleaning, but other than that, they work quite well. I've got an SSD drive in my laptop running an i5 and 8 gigabytes of RAM, it's my favorite computer right after my iMac.

Amazon had a great deal on SSDs this week.

I picked up 5 x 240gb SanDisk Extreme for just under $500. I think they were $90 each.

Downtime is unacceptable to me so I have backup after backup.

My main PC is three years old and has had no issues. It's a Alienware Aurora R4, 3.6 GHZ, 16 GB of RAM. It has two video cards, both with on board memory; I run three monitors. I can be playing Call Of Duty on one monitor, watching a movie on another, chatting on Skype on the third monitor, and be rendering a movie all at the same time without any issues.

My back PC is an Alienware x51 running two monitors, and an Alienware MX18 laptop in the master bedroom hooked up to a spare monitor. I have another smaller Alienware laptop, and then my Microsoft Surface.

Three years ago I decided to re-work how I did everything with my work and moved over to cloud computing. I can switch from computer to computer without skipping a beat. If all of my computers in the house were to die, I could buy a laptop off the shelf and quickly be back up and running.

Either get a local shop to build one for you or go with something like ncix.com. building a desktop is the only way to go.

Been running HP for many years. Same story usually I upgrade after 3-4 years not due to any issues but just wanting something new. Only issue I ever had on one of them was a power supply going out but quick trip to MicroCenter and a fast swap out and good to go again. :2 cents:

I buy a lot of my computers on Craigslist. Why pay full price for a computer when there is some broke college kid who needs beer money?

Dell XPS 8700 Desktop Computer X8700-3135BLK - Micro Center

that looks pretty nice but windows 7? I'm not ready to go windows 10 but not sure if 7 is that great either. The open box price is nice though.

Me I'd go with this open box and maybe buy a motherboard for your broken pc. It's always nice to have a backup computer. :2 cents:
