4K content? Let's talk about it in Amsterdam, Prague and Munich! (Sample included)
 

Recently we switched our production completely to 4K - including editing and encoding.

Actually buying a camera is the easy part, even my phone does 4K videos.

But when it comes to editing and especially storage, you run into your limits pretty fast (for example when a raw scene with two cameras in Apple ProRes is 800gb to 1tb)

But after shooting 50 scenes or so we got used to it and in case you are looking into 4K custom content for your sites: let's talk!

Besides being available on Skype and email, I will be in Amsterdam, Prague and Munich in case you want to sit down for a chat in person.

And here's a little test we shot on the first day we got our equipment - shot with Sony A7S



Make sure to switch to 4K when your computer/connection allows it.

We looked into the URSA Mini but from our whole workflow and already existing equipment, it makes more sense to stay with Sony. We wait now for the A7sII.

And our reality/gonzo stuff we shoot with the Panasonic X1000 - which is pretty good to work with - and if we wanted we could also attach the Shogun (or Ninja Assassin) if we needed ProRes in 4:2:2

lol - in this case it was just like "try a sexy dance without touching boobs and pussy too much" but without music in the background which we added later

originally this video was not supposed to be published but i had no other sample and i cannot use custom content from clients that is not even live on their sites yet

Sometimes it seems I'm buying one every couple of months and sometimes I am.

A prettier girl in 2k will beat an ugly one in 4k...

Better spend your money on better models and an art director who doesn't have the taste of a truck driver.

What's the situation like now for finding new good looking models. We found it had got harder in 2008. Better or worse now?

The Atomos recorder / monitor models are all great. I've got a little one for the FS100 and my BMPCC.

Moving to a BM camera meant completely overhauling my workflow. The nice thing with Premiere and Resolve, being that I can work in either a windows or Mac environment with no issues.

I shot a commercial for a local business this week, putting it to real use for the first time. I am waiting on the upgraded 4.6k sensor. I'm thinking of selling the Sony and picking up an Ursa Mini when they finally release. I shot 25 weddings this summer, the smaller form factor will work better there.

Could be a lot better but could be also a lot worse. We always need more than we can find but that was the same 10 years back.
