receiving US checks/funds to Spain and/or Deutsche Bank)
Any spanish residents here, or europeans who use deutsche bank? My bro in spain is starting to get USD checks, he put a couple in the other day (he is with deutsche bank) for the first time, got stung with a ?30 fee *and* a 6 week wait...
Here in the UK we can get checks negotiated so they clear the next day, anything similar in spain, and/or with deutsche bank? Any pointers greatly appreciated, thanks :) ps He isn't earning enough yet to warrant getting wires btw, these are all going to be minimum payout $100 or so checks from various sponsors. |
Same with most Spanish banks.
You take a cheque in, they look at it like it's a historical document. It's down to the manager of the bank, but its probably easier to cash them on a UK bank and paypal/EFT him the $. Or get a Paxum account. |
Checks are a pain to deal with in many European countries.
|
Use paypal/payoneer/paxum for smaller amounts.

Get the checks, then send them on and cash out here:

Im in Portugal, and I use a different bank, and it happens exactly the same. 20 working days + 20 - 30€ fee...
So, for example, a 100$USD check, I get like 50€ out of it. |

Simply make a vacation in the USA and open an account with an American bank. Zero fees. You can scan the cheque with your smart phone and it will be deposited the next day. Having a nice vacation and saving fees - doesn't get any better :-)
|
using paxum/payoneer/paypal is so much quicker and better than dealing with checks overseas.
when you get a payment you can withdraw or spend it immediately, not wait weeks to get it, then go to bank then whatever they do etc... |
thanks all, he has gone for wires in the end :thumbsup
