World Class Hockey Pro Donates $10 milions to children hospital
P.K. Subban donates $10M to Montreal Children's Hospital
The Montreal Children's Hospital has received a boost from one of the city's favourite Habs. The hospital has named its atrium in honour of P.K. Subban, after the Canadiens defenceman made what the health-care facility described as "the biggest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history." "Montreal has become my second home," said Subban, who was born in Toronto. "I hope to remain here, here in Montreal, here in Quebec, for a very, very long time." Subban, 26, has played for the Canadiens since 2009. P.K. All the more impressive since he makes $9 million a year.

Class act. Instead of buying mink coats, grillz and possies he actually helps community! :thumbsup
|
Way to go Suban.

Not really a fan of some of his on-ice antics but this was a really classy and generous move by Subban. If only more sports stars and celebrities would follow suit.
:thumbsup . |
I once read a quote that seems to regularly be proved pretty accurate: "Soccer is a gentleman's game played by thugs. Hockey is a thug's game played by gentlemen."

this guy really dindu nuffins.....he didu sumthins amazing. congrats to him!

Great read : P.K. Subban of Montreal Canadiens makes $10 million hospital donation - NHL.com - News
To bad sites like tmz/sports rather glorify zero's than hero's |
He must have needed a huge tax write off

He's trying to buy the "C"...

Funny how when someone does something very good, people are always trying to spin it around. But this move will have HUGE positive financial impact on his career on the Sponsor level. I can imagine he's already been thrown major deals from Sports companies :2 cents: |

I will agree though that Patches gets the C. |

Good on him

I've watched the Hab's since #4 was captain. PK is a piece of the puzzle, but the "C"...yikes.
He's got a long way to go to fill #4's shoes, but trotting out his widow was a good start. Make no mistake about it, he wants the coveted "C". |
Thats humanity

Maybe I am wrong... Who knows :upsidedow |
Classy move! He's a great hockey player and really, other than some stupid stuff on the ice once in a while, he seems like a super classy guy all around. Stopping to play street hockey with kids etc is another example of something he has done.
|
Even if it's 100% tax deductible at his tax rate it's $5,000,000 out of his pocket - which is amazing. Did Steve Jobs who was 1000 times richer than PK Subban ever personally donate $10M to a charity?

Even though I am never happy until I know the Habs have been sent to the links for the summer, I like Subban and think he makes for entertaining hockey. Every great player gets negative backlash of some sort, even ironically for doing good and great deeds.
|
I agree. And he has integrated himself into nicely Montreal and made it his home. It's also the other little things he does, like popping in on a bunch of kids playing street hockey. He's a class act, good guy :thumbsup

I wonder how many scam charities are made just for that :) |

So lets assume he'll donate 5 million. That is around $800k/year over 7 years with a salary of $9million per year. Plus he gets to write much of it off. Not as impressive as it seems but still a nice gesture. |
