Trump on Colbert

After watching the Colbert audience's reaction to Jeb Bush and Cruz I have to admit, I was a little surprised at the warm welcome Trump was given.

Did you watch the show? Thoughts?

I missed it actually. However, the episode will be added into the VOD section in a day or two and I'll be able to catch it then.

But Trump getting a warm reception from the audience doesn't surprise me. He's a fan favorite, seemingly bulletproof no matter what nonsense he spews, and even Republican voters who aren't planning to vote for him are still amused by his antics. Then there's the fact that Colbert's whole former show/fan base is after all a bit more right-leaning than the Jon Stewart camp was. That's not merely my opinion btw, in case anyon is inclined to disagree... it comes from Stewart & Colbert themselves. No doubt that fan base has followed him to the late show.

His new position (TLS) is likely going to be more politically neutral than The Report was I would think. But I'll still watch to see if he takes any patented wickedly satirical pot-shots at any of them, Trump especially.

Colbert is a troll, trump is a troll

I watched it. I thought Trump actually did a good job. He was quieter than usual, expertly dodged a birther question, and had a lot of fun. The audience liked him. I thought Colbert could have maybe asked him some tougher questions, but then again its a comedy show and Trump was his guest, so I think Colbert kept it classy.

The night before, Ted Cruz was on. He was is usual stupid self. He received lacklustre applause when he walked on stage, and was booed at one point. Colbert told the audience not to boo his guest. It was a really weird moment because Colbert looked really serious when he said that. The moment past quickly and the segment ended and that was that.

You do realize all the questions are picked by that rich scumbag?

Bulletproof is the word ??

Trump is neither republican or democrat, he is Trump and he is shaking things up from the normal bullshit that we are sooo use to, that's his thing and he's good at it. It's like Ross Perot in the sense that if he became president, everything would change, and that's what Obama promised and never delivered.

I was at that taping.. I think the audience knew about the booing of ted cruz last night and wanted to be more respectful

it was incredibly subtle satire, comparing Trump to the Colbert character was superb. i'm glad to see the show getting sorted out, Colbert can provide the late night satire while fallon provides the silly and kimmel does the pranks. take your pick, on any given night, any are enjoyable.
