Only woman on Georgia's death row is executed
ATLANTA (AP) ? The only woman on Georgia's death row was executed early Wednesday morning, making her the first woman executed in the state in seven decades.
Kelly Renee Gissendaner was pronounced dead by injection of pentobarbital Wednesday at 12:21 a.m. at the state prison in Jackson. She was convicted of murder in the February 1997 slaying of her husband after she conspired with her lover, who stabbed Douglas Gissendaner to death. Gissendaner, 47, sobbed as she said she loved her children and apologized to Douglas Gissendaner's family, saying she hopes they can find some peace and happiness. She also addressed her lawyer, Susan Casey, who was among the witnesses. "I just want to say God bless you all and I love you, Susan. You let my kids know I went out singing 'Amazing Grace,'" Gissendaner said. Prison Warden Bruce Chatman left the execution chamber at 12:11 a.m. Records from previous executions indicate that the lethal drug is administered within about a minute of the warden leaving the room. Its amazing how many suddenly find Jesus when in prison. She had a spiritual transformation while in prison. She should had it before she help kill someone.

I am sure as the terror she felt when being walked to the death chamber after knowing that the state was going to murder her was not "cruel and unusual punishment" after all the US is all for human rights being a Christian based country and going by that old biblical "eye for an eye tooth for a tooth for tooth"...wait a minute...that sounds a lot like Iran. Oh well...what you gonna do! |
Did any of you read her story? Turns out she conspired with her boyfriend to kill her husband; Her boyfriend killed her husband. She just helped planned it.
Isn't a bit silly that the person who didn't do the killing gets sentenced to death, while the person who did the killing will be coming up for parole shortly? |

Probably a lot more if they were men would be on it, women get away with too much shit in our society.

The problem with people giving evidence to escape the penalty is so obviously flawed it should have no place in the justice system of a civilised country.
The idea the killer may getting parole and the person who planned it getting executed should disgust civilised people. |

Curious about how many people in Georgia are sleeping easier and living with less fear now that this woman's been executed. Curious, too, about whether any of the people of Georgia are any happier. Curious, also, how many people who plan to kill others will put those plans on the back burner because Georgia killed her. Curious about how many Georgia folks will consider that their laws are fairer and their courts more just because the State extinguished this life. Curious about whether the State of Georgia saved any money after the legal bills are paid for. Wondering if there was any gain to anyone by this execution.
If the laws of Georgia considered some kind of gain to be the reasonable and expected outcome of an execution, it's not likely that they'd hide it from public view in a remote part of a prison distant from all population centers nor that they'd proceed with it in the middle of the night. I think that states do those things because they know that it's shameful and appeals to the worst, not the best, instincts in people to take such a life as a matter of state law and policy. |
fuck you assholes that think a killer should get life in prison. :2 cents::2 cents: a convicted killer of multiple people in the 90's escaped killed a vacationing old couple in new mexico. :disgust

Also that 'why in prison do people change' comment: Reel Life Wisdom - ?It?s only on the brink that people find the will to change.* Only at the precipice do we evolve.? | Reel Life Wisdom Or is prison now not meant to change people's thoughts, behaviour, perspective? Some fucking special people on here if they've never arrived at a life-changing or defining moment/process. |

Funny how America still have capital punishment. Zero countries in Europe do and the only ones are places in Africa and Asia. Perhaps the USA and the Africa/Asia continents aren't so different after all.
