I Have To Rent A Place In London From Next Month - Lets See What I Can Get For About $750...

Clapham 'bed-under-stairs' advertised for £500 a month - BBC News

That's outer London - WTF?..

I spend about 9 months a year in Spain - But for fucks sake this is just mad -.....

I need to triple my income - Any ideas? - BTW I am way to old to be a rent boy - I know you thought it:winkwink:...

PorN-LinK 09-30-2015 09:18 AM

Buy one of those "TinyHouses"

CurrentlySober 09-30-2015 09:19 AM

Living under the stairs was good enough for Harry Potter. If its good enough for him, its good enough for all...

RummyBoy 09-30-2015 09:24 AM

$750?

Well first off if you have USD, Id take advantage of the dollar strength and convert at least half as much as you're gonna need into pounds. Then i'd consider that for this much you will only get one bedroom in a shared house.

candyflip 09-30-2015 11:09 AM

In San Fransisco that bed under the stairs would cost you $2k a month. :1orglaugh

blinki bill 09-30-2015 12:42 PM

Well with $750 you better stay away from London, you can't even get a room in shared flat for that money

Look at zone 2, max zone 3 further than that is not really London the way I see it. You may be able to get a studio flat for around $1100-$1200. I have a flat in zone 2 for when I am in the UK, two bedrooms, and it sets me back with £1600 per month that's around $2400, you also have to pay council tax which is quite high, I pay around £150 council tax per month for that flat so it's really £1750

Keep in mind that London is expensive. If your online adventures don't generate substantial amount of cash you may want to look into getting contracting jobs as a designer/programmer while you are there to fill up the gap. There are contracting agencies that will manage your schedule and find the gigs for the days you want to work. I have many friends that work trough such agencies 2-3 days per week

I think Crockett has room in his van.

Travel, see the west, argue about Republicans and global warming all day.

I was looking through the Craigslist housing ads a few years ago.

Some guy had a van with a bed in it, parked in his driveway, and was renting it out as an apartment for $250 a month. No house privileges, just the van. Pretty hilarious.

Here's a guy renting out the back of his Tesla at night. You have to be out by 8:00 am so he can go to work, lol. I hear ********** is thinking of renting it for his anniversary.

Thanks for your post - However, I actually live in London now when I am not in Spain - I just don't need to rent ATM - That changes next month...

I haven't looked at the rental market for ages - It's staggering and when I saw this on the BBC, well it was scary.....

mineistaken 09-30-2015 01:05 PM

Guess shipping them brownies in actually grows the economy of London.

To overpay is your choice in that instance :)
That amount is enough for a few days at least :)

Yeah London is just crazy when it comes to rent. I used to live in UK before, in 2010-2011 same type of 2 bedroom flat, like the one I have now used to be £1000, you could get a room for £300-£400.

Your best bet will be to look for studio flat and look out for cheeky landlords that put a shower cabin in a room and rent it as if it's a studio. I once had a viewing for a 2 bedroom flat and when I went there it turned out that the flat is a actually a studio, he just made a partition with two tiny rooms and wanted the same price like what real 2 bedroom flats go for!

Haha I thought ya meant 700 a week and I was thinking you will be lucky to find a place for that, and you mean a month? Good luck with finding anything, I'd take the bed under the stairs.

wehateporn 09-30-2015 03:31 PM

Why you want to live in London anyway, it's only for people who have to be there, if you don't have to be there you're meant to get as far away as possible.

clickity click 09-30-2015 03:34 PM

Thought I had already posted this but just go and live in a hostel. Hostels rule.

When you travel, not as your permanent residence. One can not live like that (not private) for long.

I beg to differ. He is only staying in them for 3 months tops. I have met people living in hostels for months at a time.
It's not big issue.

Set up private webcam in shared dorm. Make mad money long time.

I am not going to read this thread but wanted to suggest that you start up a relationship online with another gay dood and then ask to stay at his house. Save yourself the $750. This way you have a place to stay and do not have to exert the energy to hook up with randoms while you are in town.

EddyTheDog 09-30-2015 10:30 PM

Thanks for the replies - Even the more outlandish ones:)...

The $750 was from the BBC article - I can do better than that - It was meant as an example to show how bad things are here.....

loreen 09-30-2015 10:33 PM
