Anyone upgrade from Galaxy S4 to the S6?
The wife and I currently have SGS4's - but hers went through the washing machine last night...so now we're thinkin' of upgradin' both to S6s.
I still love my S4...it's been a good, reliable cell. So I'm lookin' to hear a good sales pitch for the S6. Anyone done similiar - thoughts? |
Funnily enough i'm due to make that same upgrade next week.
Still love my S4 but upgrade is due so, time to change. Only heard good things about S6 anyway so...... |
You will be able to do everything that you do with your current phone. Nothing more to say, it will be nicer looking as well.

You could always just buy another S4 used and save several hundred bucks.. I still use one and I can't see any reason to upgrade.
|
I'm gonna stick with s4 for now. I don't think I'll buy s6. I might wait for s7 to come out but till then I don't think there is big reason to upgrade now.

I use a flip phone at work (samsung rugby 4) - and although it's relatively new...feels like it belongs in the Smithsonian. Not too crazy about the S6 Edge, tho. I don't like the wrap-a-round screen much. I'd prefer just the S6. |
When the ladies started laughing at my old phone or you get comments that they haven't seen one like that before.I felt it was time :)

Look into the LG G4, it's basically the real upgrade of the Samsung S4 (has removable battery, SD card, 4k video, optically stabilized camera).

Nexus 5X ? :)

We looked at the LG G4 - and although it's a great little unit...we went with the S6.
Why the S6? I just couldn't budge outta my comfort zone. :1orglaugh We've had good luck with Samsung products lately...the S4 was/is a great cell. We get a 10-day trial period with the S6 - if we don't like it or decide on another make/model...no hassle exchange (as long as the wife doesn't put it through the wash/rinse cycle again). Although we've been with Telus for about five years - hafta' give props to the Telus Mobility sales girl we dealt with earlier in the day. She was terrific! Note to Telus - give this girl a much-deserved pay raise - she's definitely an asset. Thanks ya'll for the helpful suggestions. :thumbsup |
Were switching carrier at the end of the month, been with verizon since they came to california. But when I got a software upgrade several months ago, My s4 started acting like shit and Verizon would do nothing to fix it. It would shut off for no reason, took 3 time longer to get emails, fuck that. And reception took a shit too. So looking at the LG G4 now, has a really nice camera

I'd say you can't go wrong with the G4. I had a tough time deciding between the G4 and S6. Must say - I do like the HDR and 'virtual' walkaround modes on the S6. And the 'pro' mode with manual settings is good. Low light capability is vastly improved. |
I made that exact upgrade: S4 to S6 edge.
I found the S4 more reliable and less prone to crashes, but the S6 is mostly a fantastic phone. The edge features are useless IMO, but the better battery and amazing camera are awesome. I also wish they could have kept the card slot. |
my s4 recently broke down :( not planning to upgrade, gotta get the ol' chap fixed

A bag of rice won't work... If the phone is REALLY soaked you are not going to dry it out properly with anything short of a hair dryer. Even then, in all likelihood the electronics got fried when the water shorted them out. The longer it all stays wet the more likely rust sets in. If you finally do upgrade and the S4's don't work, try opening one up and seeing what the insides look like. Most likely they will have lots of rust and will still have lots of water around many of the parts.

Once phones started having FHD screens, I didn't see any point to upgrade anymore. I have an LG G3, and the G4 doesn't do anything else really that my G3 doesn't. G5 won't likely do anything either unless it's got some built in projector or something in it.
