Maths Question...

This is from a Scottish exam for 16 year olds - It gave me a headache and I gave up - And my maths is not bad...

Thats just fucking pointless. I mean, how many crocodiles or zebras live in Scotland anyway?

It's funny because over there you call it "maths", with an S. Here in the U.S. we call it math. I was watching a movie the other day filmed in the UK, and they kept referring to it as maths...I thought they were just messing up so I researched it. This is only the second time I've heard it referred to as maths. :thumbsup

The answer to the maths problem above is: potato

Visit Wolfram Alpha:
Wolfram|Alpha: Computational Knowledge Engine

and it will not only give you the answer, it will also tell you how to calculate it yourself.

In the US is it called math and nothing longer? Here i'm sure maths comes from it being short for mathematics.

If I understand correctly (as a Canadian), Scotland's crocodiles are in London, in parliament.

So who got the cock in the ass

PornoPlopedia 10-09-2015 11:11 AM

thank you for wasting my time on this problem

I started it at least. Maybe I will finish it later
Here is what I have so far:

we have a time function T(x)= 5(36+x^2)^1/2 + 4(20-x) <=> d (time)= d(distance)/d(speed)

1-Simple, here the crocodile swims only, so we need to solve the time equation for x= 20 meters.
a) T(20) = 5*(436)^1/2 + 0 = 104.403065 Sec

b) Simple, we need to solve for x=0 meters.
T(0)= 110 Sec

2- we need to find the derivative of the time function and then solve for it. Have fun I have work to do

Total Fail!!
We don't use meters in the US its feet and inches.
Try again.

Superior and most logical system.

The Zebra ran away while the Crocodile tried to work out the equation.

I just saw that time is measured in tenth of seconds so this should be divided by 10:
1) a- time = 10.44 Sec
b- 11 Sec

As far as the system used, the question is using the metric system.

Maybe thats the problem. The OP has a headache because its in meters/metres.
