WTF Blacked.com?

https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-pr...contest-2.html

Over TWO months ago Blacked.com announced a banner design contest and STILL no winner announced. Years ago when there were actual webmasters lurking and posting they'd have been mercilessly pilloried for this and rightfully so. TWO months to decide a winner of a fucking video banner contest?

Hey blacked.com, consider yourself mercilessly pilloried:mad:...

To play devils advocate, i think it would be a silly decision to set a hard date. That would mean they would have to choose a winner even though barely anybody submitted and barely anybody with talent. You can't just use something that is terrible due to people being frustrating at how long it took to announce a winner

Perhaps a more accurate thread would be "is there such a lack of talent and work ethic among freelancers and design companies that it took blacked this long to find a worthy submission?"

First how would you know how many people submitted? And they could/should have included a condition in the contest thread that the contest was conditional on a minimum number of submissions being entered. Right now it looks like they are just hoping that the contest is forgotten about.

And if that is the reason the contest has been abandoned they should at least pay those who entered $50 for the time they put in on their submission. Not like this is some small time operation, I hear they have paid girls as much as $10,000 per scene. Tube money behind that company.

I dont, thats sort of my point. But considering what I know from experience, i would lean more towards my suggestion. but both are plausible in 2015

And i dont think its safe to put a minimum amount of entries either, you can't give 5,000 for something thats crap. given the size of the prize, i think it'd be safe to assume that might be the case

i never claimed it was abandoned either. perhaps some of the people who made entries were told to try again (or make adjustments) as they were narrowed down as their first entries werent sufficient. i didn't look at the thread to be honest but i really doubt the contest is broken down into that detail (how they would obtain a true winning ad)

go make a thread for a contest for a tour, see the samples you get, i think you'll realize that there isn't as much talent in the pool as there was 5-10 years ago. :( you might only get a handful of submissions, especially if GFY is your only avenue. And those 5 most likely wont be top notch

i dont typically play devils advocate for adult companies in scenarios like this due to most of them being mismanaged and people are usually correct in their assumptions, however blacked creates a good product, clearly knows what a product needs to look like in 2015 (which is maybe why theyre being picky on a promo?), and also realizes what it takes to continue to succeed (expansion), which is more than you can say for alot. so far it appears they know what they are doing. so until im shown otherwise, i give them the benefit of the doubt

Thanks for your deep analysis Mutt, very constructive.

The contest actually officially closed on August 31st, after which we were going to run the 3 best ads on TJ inventory for 2 weeks time, with the plan to announce the winner on September 15th. Since we had some last minute submissions near the cut off which showed promise, 2 of which actually became part of the final 3 runners, we had some delay in kicking of the 2 week TJ test, which then pushed us right into the EU show circuit where Lizz and myself both attended, which caused for some delay. We aren't even 30 days out from the initially planned winner announce date (Sept 15th), so everyone keep their pants on.

We will be posting the winner shortly in the original thread. Thank you for your patience :-)
