Content genres, niches and classification
 

Hi,

Just wondering if there is a generally accepted or more commonly used list of genres and niches anywhere for classifying content - I can come up with my own list but if there is a system that exists that is most commonly used by a wide user base I would like to have it in mind when sorting and classifying content for my master list.

Any guidelines?

Also, what about genres, niches and subniches? Is there a wiki anywhere that addresses that? sorry if dumb question.

I have done that, obviously. I was just organizing content and wondering if there was a "right way" to do it.

The problem is that every site tends to organize content in a way that is most beneficial to them, and the emphasis always falls on marketing, SEO and keyword stuffing rather than objective organization and classification.

I then had a flash of inspiration and thought it would be cool if there was a standardized category code system for adult content, but I don't think I would be the one to come up with it - it would have to be collaborative.

So first I wanted to see if there was any such system in existence that I somehow hadn't heard about, (I guess not)

Then probably try to find out if there is any interest (also most likely not lol)

And see if a credible panel of folks could get together and come up with something.

Something like AABBBCCCDDEEEE for example where:

AA is target audience, straight men, gay men, straight women, gay women, other
BBB is the primary act performed, i,e, solo, hardcore, anal, etc.
CCC is the performer type/race i.e. blonde, ebony, BBW, MILF, teen, etc.
DD is the style, i.e. amateur, gonzo, glamour, self-shot, etc.
and EEEE could be the kink if any, boobs, feet, bdsm, cuckold, interacial, etc.

So GMANAEBOAMABDSM for instance would be a gay amateur anal scene with black performers and restraints.

Just an example, there might be a lot of ways to tweak that to make it better/more useful. It might also be a complete waste of time.

Sounds like a good way to lose traffic.

I am talking about internal organization and classification, not SEO.

I agree it would actually be kind of cool if there were a Dewey Decimal system of adult.

I find the shifting terminology frustrating. For example, goth and altporn are two of the most common terms to categorize the niche most SpookyCash sites are in. Neither is really linguistically correct and different sites use different terms.
