Urghhh so frustrated with Certified Hosting

Anyone use this company at all? I have been communicating back and forth with them for hours now and they can't seem to fix simple problem. Seriously it's a straight migration of a script that is running fine on another hosting company.

And they can't even figure out how to get the script working, then now they can't get a simple cron job to work. We are not talking about a complex script. It's a simple cron job and they are telling me that its my script's fault and I need to contact the programmer to ask him why my script is not executing the cron:mad::mad::mad:
The script has no issues, it's even working as we speak on the other server and executing the crons just fine and I am not even a programmer and I installed and got the crons to work fine on my original server and your tech guys can't even figure out how to execute a cron??? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh.

Here's the real kicker, they said they have a policy that doesn't allow crons to run shorter than 15 mins WTF?!!!

Its always a headache migrating scripts to certified hosting. Anyone here from Certified Hosting? I am seriously unimpressed. :disgust:disgust

plaster 10-21-2015 06:25 PM

Can't run a succesfull business if host is incompetent. Run forest... run

kacy 10-21-2015 06:54 PM

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this issue. Sounds odd. Do you have ticket ID I can reference ?

Regarding the cron job limit, that is correct for shared hosting.

we have used them since 2000, no issues, but we had a co-lo server and am now just using a dedicated server, are you on a shared? They have always been great for us.

I can't even BEGIN to tell you what great service, and help resolving any issues (which weren't many) over the last 5- 6 years I have used Certified...dedicated server, not shared.

Babaganoosh 10-21-2015 08:19 PM

Shared? Haha, who cares?

blinki bill 10-21-2015 08:23 PM

I don't want to defend the hosting company but just a little perspective, their job is to provide you a working host they are not responsible for maintaining your scripts.

It looks like your script can not work on their configuration, first thing that comes to mind php version, your script may be done for older/newer version or use functions that are restricted in their environment for security reasons, check what version are they using and what version is your script made to use.

Keep in mind that while hosts help with small issues of the sort it's not their job to make your scripts compatible, it's your programmer's job

Kenny B! 10-21-2015 09:01 PM

I'm impressed they are working so hard on fixing your script on a shared hosting account.

I just checked their site, packages from $4 to $12 a month... if that's a plan you're on and are getting managed support, I'm thinking I should move a few sites over.

Shared plan? Gtfo with this bullshit. Youre lucky they are even helping your cheap ass at all..

EliteWebmaster 10-21-2015 09:21 PM

Hey Meta Crap go back to your rathole of a country alright? Your reading skill is as good as your intelligence. The script is not the problem. It works perfectly on the other hosting company. How does a perfectly working script have to do with "to cheap to hire a half decent programmer"? Ps, retard, it's spelled "too" not "to"

EliteWebmaster 10-21-2015 09:23 PM

To the guys who posted their positive experience with them, I appreciate your honesty. Good to know they are a good company

EliteWebmaster 10-21-2015 09:25 PM

It has nothing to do with being cheap or not. I thought I would try them first before I go on a dedicated server. Do you sign up to a new hosting company and immediately pay for dedicated hosting? I know I test it out before upgrading.

EliteWebmaster 10-21-2015 09:32 PM

To the ass clowns in the thread attaching me, go on ahead, I do business on this board unlike you trolls. Keep flaming, I don't care. I voiced my concerns because when a hosting company cannot figure out a simple cron job issue, dedicated or shared hosting, there is a problem.

EliteWebmaster 10-21-2015 09:34 PM

Kacy, I will send you an email with the ticket number.

Is there an email address I can email you?

Thanks

1. You are whining because your shitty script doesn't work on shared hosting.

2. Then you have the nerve to post complaints even though they are trying to help you. (even though you are to cheap to get a dedicated)

3. You admit you're not even a programmer and you're to cheap to hire one to help you do it properly.

What am i missing here? You sound like a noob.

It's the hosting companies job to figure out your cheap ass Filipino made crap script on shared hosting? OK THEN!

MetaMan 10-21-2015 10:31 PM

I know your type. You cheap out on programming and end up with a 20,000 line script that should be 50. Then you complain because your server resources are being bogged down LOL.

Ramirez 10-21-2015 10:37 PM

Only heard good thing about CertifiedHosting. They ROCK!

kacy 10-21-2015 10:40 PM

If you are attempting to access MySQL via the root user, it is going to fail.
I believe you were already told this by our support team. I recommend you continue to work with them directly as I won't be up all night monitoring this thread :)

I will message them. But I don't understand why root user is not allowed. It's common and most hosting companies allow it. Anyways will message them

Dont do business with noobs who dont understand different servers have different configurations?

Dont do business with noobs who think its up to a host to install their crappy made script?

Dont do business with noobs who call out reputable companies because they are to cheap ass to get a dedicated server to do things properly?

Dont do business with noobs who expect the world for a $5 shared host?

No i dont do business with anyone as dumb as you. You're correct.

Find me 1 person who agrees with you in this thread. Everyone is laughing at you. Let me guess they are just trolls? LOL

All I know is that this script is working perfectly on my:

MojoHost (Dedicated)
BlueHost (Shared)

I did both installs and everything is working fine including the crons.
So I know it's not the script issue. I think the source of my initial frustration is that Certified kept telling me the crons was working fine even though it was not working and then blaming the script. Nothing more frustrating than having tech tell you it's a script programming error when you know otherwise :)

plaster 10-22-2015 12:41 AM

I'm going to change the direction of this thread...

Hosting, in general, rely's on outsourcing support. The best of the best do. And the outsourcing, is mediocre to piss poor in most cases.

The OP had this script working on shared hosting from above statement. Lots of people in this thread want to glorify sub par performance but I've been through the ringer way too many times to buy into that shit.

I will say again... your host is your blood line if you rely on online sales to make a living. Anything short of awesome in that department is not acceptable... and run forest... run. I have no agenda except to say your host will either make, or break you. And fuck dedicated or shared... it's all the same god damn thing. The host either knows what they are doing or they don't! And many times the owner of host may know what's up... but the god damn support sucks worse then a pile of mexicans trying to replace a light bulb.

food for thought...

Very well said, it was irrelevant whether i am trying to install on a shared or dedicated (even though the same script runs perfectly on both MojoHost Dedicated and BlueHost Shared without any issues). As you mentioned Support is the key. If support fails at the most basic level, then having the best servers or fastest doesn't mean anything. Telling the customer it's the fault of his programming of the script is a cop out. When any company does that, it's shows their support's lack of knowledge immediately. That's why many hosting companies have several Levels of tech support because not all tech guys know what they are doing

And guess what, if a simple cron job doesn't work on the shared server, it's not going to be working on a dedicated server either and the tech support is going to tell you the same thing both times.

plaster 10-22-2015 01:45 AM

^^ good luck. I bet the answer is a 2 second fix but you will be the problem some how. I tell my host the problem and he fixes it. Took me since 2008 to find a host that actually gives a shit about my biz.

As a result I am growing without restrictions

I've had my personal stuff with them since around 2000 I think.

No complaints at all. I'm still with them so that says something right there.

clickity click 10-22-2015 08:07 AM

I have been using them for a few years now and haven't had major problems except one.
I bought a WordPress site and for some reason it started mailing spam to random people from random addresses. Nothing to do with me but they kept a accusing me of spam.
I started by disabling all plugins. They kept on coming. I then asked them to disable the site, apparently the spam kept coming.
Street multiple warnings I ended up deleting the site.
They were zero help in helping me resolve the issue.

EliteWebmaster 10-22-2015 09:21 AM

An update: I got an email this morning from Rodel at Certified and he was able to resolve the issue with the crons. I appreciated it even more so because I didn't message them last night but yet, Rodel (whom I wasn't dealing with yesterday) took over the issue and fixed the issue. It was a nice easy fix, just 1 line and all is good just as Plaster suspected it would take. Just wanted to thank Rodel over at Certified for the help, I appreciated it :)

Thanks Certified :)

are you going to make an apology thread for your script sucking? I'm guessing not.

if your comparing shared hosting to dedicated servers well then your doing it wrong.

there is a ton of shit i wont let shared hosting customers do that dedicated customers can do without a problem :2 cents::2 cents::2 cents:

I agree there are limitations on shared accounts but the issue was their server not running a basic cron job.

As mentioned, i installed the same script on BlueHost (Shared) and MojoHost (Dedicated) and both ran the crons fine with no configuration changes needed. I ran the same migration procedure over on all 3 hosting companies.

But its all sorted out now so all is good :)
