YouTube Content Creators Made to Join YouTube Red or Videos Hidden - Fortune

I have not received any information yet about becoming part of youtube red for my channel.

Google owns Youtube, so Google can make the rules.

Personally I never notice the ads on Youtube or Pornhub so not sure what the benefit of paying for an ad free zone is. Unless it offers content not on the free site, it has nothing worth paying for.

I can't see people paying 9.99 to watch YouTube videos. That's more than Netflix and there you can watch real tv and movies.

People pay five dollars a month, and more, to watch dudes play video games.

it seems they slowly shift to longer playing ads in videos. so if watching free youtube becomes like watching a tv channel loaded with commercials at some point it may make sense to pay for no-ads videos on their site, just like for premium cable channels today.

I've seen guys get random $100 tips on twitch. And I've only watched Twitch about 5 times. If I had the bandwidth at home I know what I'd be doing all day. Sitting on my ass playing video games making fart jokes while collecting paypal donations.

Don't laugh; that may be a clue.
Think about it, why not allow uploads of porn now that people have to pay?
No more need to worry about offending advertisers, there ain't none.
Might be an "inside joke" meaning "yeah because soon we will look just like them".

It depends where in the world you are and what type of videos if advertisers are willing to pay. Often forced to watch 30 second commercials I can't skip here. Might pay for ad free myself.
