My first experience of an earthquake was at a swap meet in the car park of Mcdonnell Douglas. My Mum had a stall there selling Jewellery and Objets D'art.

The table began to rattle, the earth started to move, I began to wobble and scream what's happening?

My Mum looked up from the book she was reading and said "It's an earthquake." Then went back to her book. I then noticed that no one else was bothered.

She later explained that being in the open where nothing can fall on us, we were safe.

In LA at the level that terrified me, they're pretty common.
