A KFC-branded fried chicken restaurant that opened its doors Sunday night in Iran's capital city of Tehran was shut down after just one day in operation.

The restaurant, KFC Halal, which Iranian news agency Tasnim called "the first American branch" of its kind, had set up shop in West Tehran after seemingly obtaining approval from the country's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Mines, and showed happy customers lining up for chicken on its website and Instagram page.

But by Tuesday, Iranian police had shut it down. A sign posted on its door read it was "closed until further notice." The reason given: Its decor too closely resembles the U.S. flag, and its presence "can be seen as a part of American influence into Iranian culture," the agency says. "The U.S. is one of Iran's major enemies and this will have grave dangers for the country."

related, i've been getting my fried chicken from the local grocery store deli dept lately, i call in a batch and it's piping hot when i arrive to get it! and delicious! as good as kfc, better even. sometimes kfc can really fuck up a bird. still, fried is the best way for chicken really. i can eat the whole bird if it's fried good but any other way i can't eat every part.

So I guess no chicken in every pot for Iran.

It would be surprising if it was not. I mean any "real" shop would naturally make it better than those mainstream fast food conveyor joints.

perhaps, although it's actually pretty hard to get fried chicken right. kfc's claim to fame is their recipe and they use pressure cooker fryers. the grocery store i get my fried chicken is a Von's, a huge nationwide chain of big grocery stores. their recipe is good and even though they don't use pressure fryers, their bird comes out pretty damn nice. crunchy and juicy.

I like the KFC coleslaw. Church's taught me to put Louisiana hot sauce and honey on chicken, man is that good. Throw it in a biscuit and you are set!

Church's biscuits are the best of the fast food fried chicken joints, better than kfc's. they make a tasty bird too.

My local chicken place is the neighborhood grocery store as well. Made by little old ladies, with homemade slaw and potatoes and gravy recipe.

Although I will not turn down KFC, Popeyes etc. Anytime is a good time for fried chicken!

I think Bojangles makes the best chicken and you can't beat their biscuits and red beans and rice, wish they had one near me closest one is like 100 miles away.
