Stephen Colbert show sucks ass now
I don't know if it's just me but I used to watch this show when Colbert was on Comedy Central. However, since he is on CBS now, the show is so fruity and the band leader that blows into his mini keyboard and dances around makes me want to smash my tv.
Thoughts? |

Seems like when ever someone moves to the 1130 time slot they change to accommodate those viewers. I thought Letterman was at his best at the 1230 nbc time slot and lost his edge when he went to cbs 1130 time slot

He got too big in his mind - he always seemed a little unstable

The problem with Colbert (and Letterman) is that damn Ed Sullivan Theater. It's too big, it's like putting on a Broadway show every night (a shitty one).
Too loud, too cavernous, no intimacy at all, Colbert looks so uncomfortable standing up doing a monologue....ugh, what a fucking mess. |
Loved the Colbert Report.... the new show is unwatchable.

colbert was a bad pick. yeah, he's funny but he has *always* played a character. he's never just been himself. they picked him because of his popularity but it just doesn't work. maybe he'll get better in time but he seems so stiff up there.

I can't watch his show any more. Not the same Colbert we all know.
Its like watching Jim Carrey playing serious character in a movie. |

100% agree

He's not funny...I see CBS looking for a replacement within a year. {Looking sooner, probably, and actually replacing after next summer...}

He can't make the transition. I wouldn't write him off just yet though... Took Letterman a few years to adjust with his second show (his first flopped) |

I agree - its terrible. I've been watching it every night from the beginning but last week I started fast-forwarding past the monologue and credits to get to the political / pop culture bit that he had on his old show under his character of "Stephen Colbert", which is the only part of the new show that is funny. Here's what I hate: - The band leader is annoying, fake, ugly, pointless, boring. He looks like he was chosen by a focus group made up of 95 year old white people. The flute / synth thing he is blowing into sounds terrible and looks stupid. - The fake "good time". The endless pointless stupid banter between Colber and the band leader, and especially the stupid dancing. Is this Late Night or is it the Ellen show? Colbert looks almost desperate when he does this. - The whole show seems very carefully produced, defined, refined, calculated, and tweaked. There is no spark, no surprises. Not even the political humour has an edge. On the other hand, Trevor Noah is fantastic replacement for Jon Stewart on The Daily Show. He's funny as hell, the jokes have bite, the timing seems casual yet still perfect. Even The Nightly Show is really good, as is "This Week Tonight" with John Oliver. Also very funny. Sorry, Stephen! |
What should have happened:
Jon Stewart leaves, Colbert takes over. What did happen? Two good shows went to total shit and a 3rd that was shitty is even shittier now. |
It's horrible.
Can't wait to see what Jon Stewart and Bill Simmons do with HBO. Looks like it will all be shortform. Pretty exciting. |

When didn't it?

The new Daily Show sucks donkey balls, too. Who the fuck IS this guy with the weird accent? Is he white? Black? Is English his first language?
When did Comedy Central become BET? The Nightly Show might as well be The Blackly Show. Every time I tune in all I see is a bunch of black people sitting around planning their next Kill Whitey rally. |
