Ok, so I have a very perverse sexual addiction. I am also married with kids.

How does that work then in the terms of the video?

Kind of agree too in a roundabout way.

There is a lot of truth to this but it conflates addiction with compulsion, which on the psych level is probably similar but to say that people who have long recoveries involving opiates dont have withdrawals is COMPLETE bullshit...I certainly had em. But I am a rather social creature and for me the flu like symptoms for three or four days wasnt that bad....I have been through it 3 time...once in 07 for spinal surgery, once in 2010 when I broke my leg and this year when I broke 14 bones and punctured a lung in a motorcycle accident...this year was the worst withdrawals because I was on HIGH doses of oxycodone for 4 months

This video is pretty much spot on, missing a few details but the general message is correct. If you want more information on this topic, this doctor goes deeper into what causes that % of the population to be susceptible to addictions of all kinds.

It's not saying you won't experience withdrawals, everybody who takes opiate painkillers for a certain amount of time will. The soldiers coming back from Vietnam all experienced WD's, if they used for more than a week or two. It's saying after that, if you are mentally healthy, you won't feel the need to go back to opiates when you have no physical requirement for painkillers.

Only that 5% or so (seems to be growing in today's world), will find that the painkiller does something for them, and thus continue to seek it out regardless of if they are physically injured or not. It soothes pain, physical and emotional, those that keep doing it after their injury have some mental trauma which is unresolved and the painkillers help them with this.

If you were susceptible to addiction, you likely would have stayed a user after your first encounter with painkillers :)

yeah but, Paris Hilton, and we have waaaay too many people on the planet to build a rat park. Also there aren't rich rats or poor rats, and no dictator rats or rats that inherit wealth.

Also, plenty of veterans did stay addicted.
