Magic Mushrooms are medicine for patients suffering from cluster headaches

Posting this in case it's useful for anyone...

Psychedelic mushrooms are an unlikely friend in the battle against incredibly painful cluster headaches.

I get cluster headaches a few times a year in 4-6 week episodes. I'll get 1 or 2 a day for that entire 4-6 weeks, then they'll just go away. I can tell you first hand that this is the most excruciating pain a human can go through. I always get the pain in the EXACT same place each time, just behind my right eye, and it feels like I'm being stabbed over and over again with an ice pick.

Had them for the last 20+ years, and I would do ANYTHING to get rid of them. I get Botox near the trigger points, i have a pure oxygen tank with full mask to try and stop the attacks, I carry Imitrex injections while I'm having an episode, I've taken different concoctions of pills as suggested by my neurologist, but I haven't heard of this yet. You can bet I'll look into it though...

Do you drink a lot of coffee or consume MSG? Have you had your eyesight checked? Do you take a lot of Aspirin?

oxygen is the only thing that works for my mother. it's not exactly convenient or cheap but other medicines have done nothing. that video clip was exceedingly vague so i'm not putting much stock in that either. crazypants is right about the msg thing though, most people who get them seem to have severe msg allergies. I'm 95% sure my mother doesn't have allergies to it but she isn't exactly careful as to what she eats so it isn't impossible that she is still eating it unknowingly either. hope you find something for it though, i have seen how bad they can get.

I haven't had a cup of coffee in 15-20 years. As for MSG, doesn't just about everything contain it? Seems like I've seen a list before, and there's a lot on it. So, yes, I probably do consume a fair amount of MSG. I wear contacts, and my eyes are checked annually. I wouldn't say I take a LOT of Aspirin, but I've taken a fair share, especially when I'm having an episode and I may not have anything else around, so I'll keep a bottle of Excedrin in each car.
