Anyone Ever Fast?

I'm strongly considering a fast to flush my system. I've been reading up on a lot of different ones, and I'm leaning towards the lemonade fast (just drink water with lemon, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup).

Has anyone here ever fasted, and if so, which one and what were the results? And how long should I do it?

wehateporn 11-15-2015 05:07 PM

I did, it was great!

clickity click 11-15-2015 05:08 PM

I fasted on beer for about a week once.

mineistaken 11-15-2015 05:08 PM

No. And some info here:https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-pr...24hr-fast.html

brassmonkey 11-15-2015 05:12 PM

Just do intermittent (daily) fasting. I'm pretty sure 2 years of IF has tuned up my metabolism to prefer fat burning to fat storage. I've been off the fasting for about 2 months doing a bulk cycle, and I can still see my six pack. I attribute that to having a metabolism that's firing on all cylinders.

I wouldn't mess with those long term fasts.

dyna mo 11-15-2015 05:34 PM

Fasting for flushing your system/detoxing is a myth.

IF is not a myth.

Rob 11-15-2015 05:37 PM

I've eaten like shit for the past couple months and haven't really worked out. I KNOW I'm out of shape, and I feel like shit (both physically and mentally). I don't know if I'm flushing toxins or not, but I just know I need to do something. I haven't been this out of shape ever in my life, and I don't want to look back at this in a year, when they're forklifting me out of my house, and know I didn't do anything to prevent it.

dyna mo 11-15-2015 05:43 PM

I would start IF intermittent fasting asap and start mild exercise like brisk walking add in some hills. And buy the eBook eat stop eat. I would then add in pushups.

I've been on IF for years now. It's the easiest and best eating plan I've ever done.

Compressing your eating window makes it much easier to hit calorie deficit goals. I've tried to help a couple of people when they asked how I got my new body, but they're hesitant to drop the bullshit breakfast/lunch/dinner paradigm and have this fear that going a few hours without food is going to kill them.

I actually grew up skipping breakfast so that part is really a breeze. Plus coffee is aok and I like caffeine on an empty stomach.

But mostly, when I eat I want and need to feel full when I've finished my meal. That's actually hard to accomplish when you stay within calorie windows and impossible eating 3+ times per day but super easy doing IF.

haha yeah. Most people I know eat around the clock as long as they're awake....and most of them are overweight to some degree.

Rochard 11-15-2015 08:55 PM

You don't need to completely fast to flush your system. Eat light and eat healthy and drink a lot of water for a few days. I've been eating very light and drinking a lot of water now for some time. I've been feeling great and loosing a lot of weight too.

leg4 11-15-2015 09:20 PM

I do 24-48 hour fasts a couple times a week now.

CurrentlySober 11-16-2015 04:29 AM

I'm to slow to fast... :(

By the way...I did that fast about 9 years ago and it did nothing for me. I will say it was weird to have so much energy while not eating solid food for 10 days -- but overall I don't think the diet did anything for me. I've learned a lot since then and look back at it as something really dumb.

Busty2 11-16-2015 09:16 AM

I did a Wheatgrass 7 day cleanse at the Optimum Health Center in San Diego eating just raw macrobiotic meals and felt amazing. The wheatgrass enemas took a lot of getting use to:disgust

At the end of the 7 days i went out and had a Jack off in the Box Burger and got food poison.:error

Austin - MrSkinCash 11-16-2015 09:18 AM

I've tried a couple different cleanses before. Can't say I have ever felt all that amazing after.

iSpyCams 11-16-2015 09:23 AM

Fasting has a lot of indisputable health benefits, for me the biggest issue is dealing with people while not eating, I have a lot less patience, so, best to avoid important conversations while fasting. Also keep in mind that a 24 hour fast means you can eat dinner on your "fast" day. If you try to go to bed hungry you are really doing a 36 hour fast, so pretty much just have an early dinner one day and a late one the next and you got a pretty easy 24 hour fast, get some aderall and you might not even notice.

Getting a juicer and doing a vegetable juice cleanse is almost exactly the same, but you can go a lot longer (potentially indefinitely) without really starving yourself of any nutrients. I did that for 2 weeks once and it was fantastic, but working out was really hard, recovery times were terrible. I am sure I could have paid more attention to the macros instead of just randomly mixing stuff that wouldn't taste horrible, but still it was a very good experience.

Va2k 11-16-2015 09:41 AM

Fuck fasting, Eat 5 to 6 small meals daily with 30 min exercise nothing too hard, walking a few miles does great. Just before doing that give your self a colon cleansing, that really flushes the toxins and the next day you feel so much better.

After a few weeks of this cont to eat 5 to 6 small meals, To judge your size portions of food use your fist. Make a fist and make each portion that size.

But after a few weeks then start with light weights for your arms, chest, legs with 15 mins of cardio like walking.
You will thank me in a couple of months!

Every 3 to 6 months do another colon cleaning. :)~

Your welcome.

PS If you can keep a daily journal of your food, and exercise. It really does help when you hit the wall on losing the weight. Then you can go back and check each week on what you ate, what you did etc..

I drive my sport car fast.

bronco67 11-19-2015 07:18 AM

Something I've noticed about food lately...

I was intermittent fasting for the last couple of years. I recently started eating breakfast at "normal" times -- which is still on the spectrum of being later than most people -- about 9:30 or 10am. The reason for this is to fuel my workouts for bulk season at the gym.

Now I feel like hammered shit before I get that first meal, as opposed to when I was fasting I felt great on an empty stomach all the way up to around 1 or 2 pm. It only took a few weeks for my body to re-establish its addiction to being fed around the clock, which is the state most people are in -- and probably much of the reason so many people store more fat than they burn.

Even though it goes against conventional wisdom that you need to eat to fuel heavy weight lifting, I'll probably go back to working out on an empty stomach, because it sucks feeling hungry as fuck when I wake up.

I hear you, when I was working out, I would always do it on a empty stomach, with my protein shake mixed with creatine plus back then I would use my 200 mgs of caffeine my 20 mgs of ephedrine and one aspirin. it was called the EAC stack which was awesome. Then after I get home would either cook up some oatmeal with fruit or make a fruit smoothie then start the eat 5 to 6 small meals! :pimp

I fast when I go to sleep. If i attempted IF i would die trying to get 4.2k+ cals in a 6 hour window.

PornDiscounts-V 11-19-2015 10:42 AM

Paul Walker used to fast, but then he got burned out on it.

Too soon?

4,200? How much do you weigh bro?

I was wondering, because I'm doing about 3,000 per day (give or take 200) and haven't noticed any major belly fat returning yet. Shoulders and arms still look like a roadmap, but I don't want to overdo the calories.

I'm about 175 now BTW.

180ish currently. When i was 192 I had to intake close to 5K cals a day just to maintain (mind you its an actually 5k, I weigh and portion my food) Absolutely hated it.

I have the most ridiculous metabolism...its a blessing and a curse.

It would be easy to accomplish with calorie dense foods but to eat like that clean would not be possible. At least for me.

I wouldnt even know where to begin or what to consume on an IF styled diet. Would I keep my macros the same?

i wouldn't feel comfortable advising you, you are on a whole other level! :thumbsup

it sounds like you do not deviate from a clean eating plan, and as you know a little fat can blow those ratios out of whack. but if you have a splurge day, i'd think doing it on a leg day or the day after and splurge out on 1 big fat meal 4k+ feeding frenzy.

i'm also not current on bulking and IF, it seems bronco is bulking and had to move away from IF but i recall from a while back that my IF guru then, Intermittent fasting diet for fat loss, muscle gain and health, had luck bulking with IF, including eating entire cheesecakes, etc.

I think juice fasting is a thing, but only if done right. Not sure if I did it right, but I did a 7-day fast with ground flax seeds and felt pretty amazing afterwards.

I do a bit of IF for workout purposes, and that for sure is proven! :thumbsup

I do a 3 day water fast 4 times a year. At the beginning of each season.

I'll be going on an EPIC fast in 7 days from this Saturday. 30 days of only water and meditation/prayer/mindfulness. Last time I did something CLOSE to that (21 days on juice), I lost 20 pounds, thought very clearly, and had the willpower of a Cruise missile. This time, my focus would be OUTWARD directed.

Wish me luck, bros.

I know it's crazy but I'll mix in some running/exercise in the 30 days.

I did 30 days. First couple of days were hell. On day 6 I was splitting firewood like a mad man. Clarity of thought was incredible. Never felt better, or more alive, in my life.

adultchatpay 11-20-2015 04:37 AM

You should consult a doctor before fasting.

I can't drink too much citrus fruit juices because of acid fucking reflux.

I'm pretty sure I was adding some muscle on IF, but I'm presently going with the conventional "wisdom" that says you should stay fed before and after workouts -- although I may throw that out the window and go back to 18 hour fasts (even on heavy workout days). I'd still fit my bulking calories in....just in that smaller eating window.

Thanks for sharing that. I'm looking forward to my fast now more than ever. There's just something about the whole concept of OVERCOMING SELF that is inherent in fasting that's just mind blowing to me.

I did a two day fast Monday & Tuesday this week. I lost 5lbs., a half inch around my waist, and as an added bonus two beers on Tuesday evening got me pretty much shitfaced.
