I think you missed the most important factor, backlinks.

Why they rank so well? Because this website has the best performance in all mentioned factors.

As all have said before. They have links from forums and mainstream sites as well.

They have a real ingenious ad campaign that gets their site mentioned in mainstream news sites all the time. In many major news events they are able to inject themselves. When the New Fallout 4 game was released major news released "Pornhub sees drop in porn usage during Fallout 4 Release".

Many, many more stories like this show up on Reddit's mainstream forum. The stories get voted up and mainstream sites like Huffington and Yahoo news regurgitate it.

This also results in trends with their name showing up. "Pornhub space sex"

Aged domain with fucktons of backlinks (lots of natural links), lots of good content with keyword rich titles and long "time on site"

1) Well invested on their technology platform which is the backbone to serve their user base.

2) Consistent and improving day in day out. Simply starting a wordpress based tube site and then working on it for 2 months, after you don't see traffic or money - when you give up- that's where they stand out.

3) pumping money on the marketing to gather lots of content ( initially they put their content, then slowly users start adding their own content and grows into a community )
