Multiplayer Wii U Games for Parties?

Anyone know any good ones, I know there are a couple on Nintendo Land (the ghost one and the one where you chase a runner), any more worth having, ideally competitive?

Mario Party 10, Super Smash Bros and Wii U Party are multiplayer games my kids love.

They always play Super Mario World 3d, which I believe up to four can play at once.

They just got a new Yoshi game that 2 people can play.

BUT...the best game ever for anything Nintendo is the new Super Mario Maker. It's not multiplayer, but passing the controller around playing quick games works nicely.

Thanks for that Candyflip, trying to work out whether to get them one for Christmas, but I only knew 2 games which were any good. I noticed one of the packs came with Super Mario Maker, I'll go for that one after what you've said :thumbsup

If you grew up playing Super Mario, you will likely get hooked too. :1orglaugh

We have all the consoles, but the Wii U is the one that gets the most play. With the other systems, the games are often hit or miss. Anything with the Nintendo name on it usually keeps everyone occupied and happy.

Now if they would just finally release a version of Minecraft for the Wii U...

I grew up on Sega (Alex Kidd) and Amiga, so missed out on most the Mario unfortunately. Mine use the XBox, mostly Minecraft, the younger one plays The Simpsons too. What you've said about the Wii U is encouraging! :thumbsup

It was definitely not a console that I had even considered buying. I ended up trading a lady on Craigslist one of our old XBox 360s for it. I don't think we've purchased a game for any other console since the Wii U landed in front of their TV.

My little ones are 5,6 and 7. They LIVE for Minecraft. That's the only thing with Wii U is missing.

My son, the 6 year old, has an interest in video game programming (his mother is a software developer) and is already learning basic scripting. Mario and Minecraft play a big part in him wanting to make games. So yeah...they're playing games, but they're LEARNING so much more. The basics from sharing and taking turns, problem solving, hand eye coordination...the list goes on.

You can't go wrong with Mario Kart 8 :)
There's a bundle out too where you get all the DLC included (like 16 more stages and a bunch of characters)

I have almost every game worth having to Wii U so feel free to ask me anything

I totally forgot Mario Kart 8. Splatoon is also a blast, but the multiplayer...my kids don't like.

Like geirlur, we have anything worth having. Can't wait to crack open Lego Dimensions Christmas morning!

I've dropped close to $400 on that game alone.

The main ones I'm after are competitive multiplayer to get everyone in the room doing battle, like the ghost mansion and like the one where you all chase one person down

Well, MK8 is 4 player. You also have good platformer games like Rayman and New Super Mario Bros that are 4 player.

Also, an e-shop game you might look into with 9(!) player is named Runbow. I only tried the demo and had a blast even though we were just 2 playing. You should definitively at least try the demo if its still up :)

Another e-shop game relasing soon with 4 player is Fast Neo Racing, this is very similar to F-Zero and looks really good. I know I will be getting it! FAST Racing NEO

The Racing aspect of MK8 missed the point. Mario Kart Wii still reigns supreme for that. But the battle mode on 8 is awesome. Still the most evil game ever invented.:1orglaugh

Really? You're the first one I've ever heard saying that! The classic battle mode is so much better, the one on SNES is my favorite actually.
