Ex-Subway pitchman Fogle gets more than 15 years in prison
 

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ? The latest on the sentencing of former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle for sex crimes (all times local):

1 p.m.

A judge has sentenced former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle to 15 years and eight months in prison for trading in child pornography and having sex with underage prostitutes.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt sentenced Fogle on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to one count each of travelling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and distribution and receipt of child pornography.

Fogle agreed to the plea deal in August after authorities raided his suburban Indianapolis home in July.

Prosecutors sought a 12½-year sentence, while Fogle's attorneys sought five years.

The 38-year-old Fogle admitted paying for sex with girls as young as 16 and receiving child pornography produced by his charitable foundation's former director.

He also agreed pay his 14 victims $100,000 each in restitution.

12:40 p.m.

Former Subway pitchman Jared Fogle told a judge that he regrets his actions that destroyed his career and his life and harmed his victims.

Fogle said Thursday at his sentencing hearing in Indianapolis that he can't undo the past but will do everything he can to be a better man and father when he gets out of prison.

Fogle pleaded guilty to one count each of travelling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and distribution and receipt of child pornography.

In Fogle's plea deal, his lawyers agreed not to seek a sentence of less than five years in prison and prosecutors agreed to recommend a sentence of no more than 12½ years behind bars.

But U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt could sentence Fogle to up to 50 years in prison.

A psychiatrist who analyzed Jared Fogle says he concluded that the former Subway pitchman suffers from hypersexuality, mild pedophilia, and alcohol abuse and dependency.

John Bradford, a professor at the University of Ottawa in Canada, testified by phone Thursday at Fogle's sentencing hearing that Fogle appears to have had a compulsive eating disorder and that he began to develop hypersexuality shortly after losing weight.

Bradford says Fogle told him he had sex with minors age 16 and 17 and had "a fairly extensive history" of using prostitutes. He says Fogle told him he masturbated to fantasies about prepubescent girls, but that there's no evidence he acted on them.

Fogle pleaded guilty to one count each of travelling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and distribution and receipt of child pornography.

Experts are testifying on behalf of Jared Fogle during the former Subway pitchman's sentencing hearing on child pornography and sex crimes charges.

Defense attorneys say a forensic psychiatrist and a psychologist will testify during Thursday's hearing before Fogle makes a statement.

Fogle's attorneys have said in court documents that he suffers from hypersexuality and alcohol problems and is committed to receiving treatment for his medical conditions.

Before the sentencing portion began, Fogle pleaded guilty to one count each of travelling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor and distribution and receipt of child pornography.

That was fast.. I know of a guy who was arrested in FL before this Fucker and has yet to even see a judge..The guy has been in jail 6 or 7 months and hasn't even been charged with a crime.

Florida automatically waves your right to a speedy trial. You have to file a motion in order to receive one. I did work for a law firm in Florida, and one of their specialties was forcing the state into speedy trials. Better for the defense if you limit the state's chance of building a case.

Yea just another reason FL has become a shithole. Guess the private prison system gets lots of extra money that way from people suck in the system..

Good that he isn't getting a short stay behind bars. For various unrelated reasons, I have always "boycotted" Subway, now after finding out the corporate end of the franchise ignored what turned out to be a long-term series of complaints and reports, I'll continue to take my business elsewhere. Substandard can keep their $5 Foot-longs for as long as they remain in business, I'm sure not buying. Togo's is much better quality. LOL

nevertheless, it's literally been decades since i've bought a sandwich. but that said, i'm not a sandwich guy, too much bread.

breakfast sandwiches are a different story altogether, but again, we make our breakfast sandwiches right here at home with a breakfast sandwich maker.

i like getting shit on the outside that i'd usually never make at home- killer burrito, chinese, pizza. certainly all of which can be decently done at home, that said a killer sandwich can be made at home but it's very tricky to make a killer burrito at home.

It depends on the type of sandwich. You can make great paninis at home - and don't discount that waffle iron for just waffles. And of course people who buy grilled cheese sandwiches instead of making them don't know what they're missing. And I'll put my tuna salad/egg salad/chicken salad up against anybody's.

BUT, it's almost impossible to recreate a real Italian hero at home. Because in my opinion you need 4-5 different types of cold cuts that must be thinly and freshly sliced. That's the hard part to replicate at home.

And by the time you acquire the bread, dressing, oregano (gotta have oregano), the cold cuts, cheese, lettuce, onions and tomatoes (all of which must be cut/shredded properly) you might as well just go to an Italian deli and be done with it.

That said, I live in a country where most items are Halal and there is not a single Italian Deli in all of Malaysia. Hence, about every two months or so, I buy all the fixings at a premium supermarket that caters to foreigners (a frozen Butterball turkey will set you back about $14 a pound!) and have Italian heroes at my place for a select group of friends. Sets me back about $250 for 10 sandwiches.

I predict that Jared will be dead of either suicide or murder within one year. I am leaning toward suicide. I will bump this thread the day it happens.
