I like the bit where he catches the plane just before it lands in the baseball stadium but that's about it.

nico t recommending cartoon movie, it must be really good. Or is he joking? LOL

AntonMG 11-23-2015 03:26 PM

Knowing the general spirit around here, I was expecting a picture Christopher Reeves in a wheel chair.
Not sure if I'm relieved or disappointed...

Made the mistake of keeping this on in the background and wow, this movie is one giant piece of shit. It's lame, childish, takes itself very very serious, and has no soul. It's everything what a superhero movie always is - what a surprise!
What a huge crapfest this shit is. "Look at me i cannot die and i can fly to other planets!" Jesus christ :1orglaugh

Gotta love the dramatic serious score, looking at my laptop it sounds like a movie about the holocaust, but everytime I glance at the TV i see CGI puppets fly through to air. Is this some kind of joke? This movie is almost as bad as the worst movie I have ever seen in my life (Captain America first avenger).

Watching movies you know you are going to be predisposed to hate just so you can complain about them truly makes you superior.

The world is a better place for your tireless effort.

We are not sure how to reward your selfless sacrifice on our behalf because a genius of your stature is hard to demonstrate our heartfelt appreciation and utter gratitude toward.

So, we have created a special trophy to acknowledge your great cultural contribution because we do not have the power to grant you Knighthood, but we would if we could.

Allow us to present you with a Fuzzy Pink Attaboy.

I *Loved* that movie. Man of Steel is the best Superman movie ever made, though I'm a big fan of the 1979 version too. I just love how its shot. My favourite scene is the fight in smallville. I thought it was really well done. And the guy who played Zod - wow! What a great actor he is. I also loved how the story had some great science-fiction elements. Oh and of course, the music. Wow wow wow what a great movie. Saw it twice in Imax.

In case you haven't seen it:

I am curious to watch this. Is it ok to watch it without watching the previous superman movies, I mean are all the movies "independent" or do they go as series?

You mean all superman movies are +- the same story?
I watched Batman and I believe every one was different story. Or not, I forgot :1orglaugh

Batman was above the stupid comic movies (like avengers or cpatain america) to me :2 cents:

Nico-t, what is your take on Batman movies?

Thomas.Affect3D 11-25-2015 12:36 AM

Yeah have to admit it is a good movie

EliteWebmaster 11-25-2015 03:22 AM

I don't know but the DC comic characters seem to be boring movies. All of the Superman movies/tv was a pile of cow dung. Even Smallville after season 3 or so was painful to watch.

Batman with Keaton as Batman and Danny D as the Joker was the best, everthing else was subpar or downright horrible (yes I am looking at you George Clooney).

Green Lantern with Ryan Reynolds was horrible that I walked out of the theatre in the middle of the movie :1orglaugh

Supergirl TV - looks to be another clunker. It's like Smallville but only more PG13

i agree those are above avengers, superman, etc. But i noticed when i watched dark knight rises it became too much for me: The scene where batman and catwoman are standing on the street talking with that police guy was the turning point. I couldn't take it seriously, it was laughable these 2 in halloween costumes with very serious dialogue.

The problem is these new batman movies want to be very serious and 'realistic' (no superpowers), but a serious realistic movie where they dress in superhero costumes doesnt work.
Also the movies are highly overrated. The joker one didn't do anything for me, i didnt care. Batman begins was the one i enjoyed the most out of them but it wasnt anything special.

A 'superhero'/comic movie i did enjoy was the punisher: War zone. This one didnt make it to the big screen i believe but its really entertaining. In here the punisher is a no nonsense guy with some type of SWAT suit: All function, no form, not childish. It has an extremely funny villain, and it's bloody as hell. Best comic to movie adaptation by far, and it's fun!

this uncensored trailer captures the movie perfectly:

Good but not great movie --- but that trailer is one of the best ever. Goosebumps.

The long fight scene in Smallville was one of the most awesome action scenes in the past few years.

Yes. This movie includes the origin of Superman so its completely stand-alone. You can watch it without seeing any other Superman movie.

I agree. In the DC Universe, all of the super heros are kind of boring, though, The Dark Knight was excellent, and I have to admit that I'm now hooked on "The Flash" on the CW Network. (Yes I know its aimed at Teens but it's loaded with crazy time travel / alternate reality sci-fi. Also each episode contains some fun easter eggs and nods to some famous movies that make it enjoyable to watch too.

Between DC and Marvel though, I'd pick Mavel. Better Super Heroes, Better stories, better everything.

If you liked Man of Steel, you may also like "Watchmen" as its from the same director, Zak Snyder.

You should give this one another chance. I liked it a lot. If you watch it again, pay close attention to Captain Steve Rogers as "skinny Steve", and watch this:

PS: It's sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the best in the MCU in my opinion.

i know the skinny steve effects, and yes it is technically well done. But effects do not interest me when the movie is absolute garbage.

VSKevin 11-25-2015 12:19 PM

Not a bad movie, though I expected more coming from Snyder.

I LOVED "Watchmen" as he kept pretty true to the comic, but had an appropriate contemporary ending.

Superman was visually stunning, but the story just didn't stand the test of time for me. The origin story is just meh now.

NeedSex 11-26-2015 09:14 AM

Even You recommended, I still dont like superheroes movies)
