I'm about to pitch a TV show format to a few major networks. See what you think please. (NO POO)

Its kinda based on the popular show 'American Dad' but at the same time is completely different.... See what you think.

Its working title is 'Icelandic Mom' and where as American Dad is an animated comedy, Icelandic Mom is a live person structured reality show. The premise being for her to be solving lifestyle and social skills type problems for Canadian males aged between 18 and 35. Problems will be solved using a combination of common sense and traditional Inuit arts and crafts skills. Each show would contain a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 different people, all with varied problems. The aim is to hopefully both amuse & educate the viewers, especially with the traditional arts and craft segments. For these segments we would have a revolving cast of 4 or 5 genuine Inuits as expert teachers.

Also, to tie the segments together I propose introducing an animal, either a traditional sledge pulling Husky Dog, or possibly, if budget allows, an actual Wolf, which would be used to punctuate the program, tie the segments together and the animal would also provide the narration from its point of view, in a way that the viewer could easily connect and identify with.

As for sets, I propose a scarcely furnished, yet brightly lit infinity stage, in pure white. This will give a metaphorical 'nod' to an igloo, but remain warm and clean. The arts and crafts segments would be shot outside, near a hedge, using green wooden trestle tables approx 8 feet by 4 feet each.

Initial run would be for six, one hour long shows, where the first 5 serve as kinda selection process where the Canadians with the most points in the first 5 shows, return for a 'Grand Finale' in Show 6 where an overall winner is selected. The possibility of telephone, on in app voting, can be optioned if required as an extra revenue stream.

So, what do you think? Any notes or suggestions before I send it off to the studios to see if I can get it optioned? I think I covered it fairly well, but I'm standing by to answer any questions in the event of lack of clarity on my behalf. Thanks :)

All good!
But what is the link between an Icelandic mom, a Canadian male and Inuits?
Canadian male and Inuits, I see. But the Icelandic mom?

I don't like the title. Icelandic Mom is to similar to American Dad.
I know it's different but umm, you know what I mean.

Good idea and best of luck! Just keep in mind that it's really, really tough to get shows like that optioned if you don't have pre-existing studio contacts. Trust me, I've tried.:1orglaugh

Good artists copy; great artists steal.

Absolute understand your point and thanks for making it. Put simply, I feel that if I were to call it 'Inuit Mom' many people wouldn't know what it meant - It needs to have immediate brand recognition in the title.

Likewise, 'Eskimo Mom' may be considered to be racist, as I'm under the impression that Inuits don't like being called eskimos, so it might cause difficulties getting the arts and crafts teachers to appear on the show.

So I hid the middle ground with 'Icelandic Mom' - Immediately conjuring an image of a nurturing female figure from a very cold area where it snows a lot (Hence the infinity stage)

Think Francine in a Fur Coat but in real life and not blonde.

I am an arts and crafts teacher (yes really!) so if you want me in the pilot just hit me up.

Coke Cola is similar to Pepsi Cola, but different enough to be its own unique product. Thats what I'm aiming for. If you want a half hour animated adult comedy, choose American Dad. If you want a one hour life action educatioal show featuring traditional arts and crafts and problem solving, choose Icelandic Mom... Simples...

Thanks - But are you a genuine 100% Inuit? I cant compromise the integrity of the show before its even begun. It would be like using black face to portray a person of colour... :(

My grandmother was an Inuit and I travel to Iceland at least once a year. But, no I was born in the UK.

Are you sure you want an infinity stage? Remember, man is mortal, and the world is a stage.

Just remember that if you don't hear back it's because they either didn't see it or are just too dumb to understand your vision. :thumbsup
