Hooray for "Priority Hires"
Firefighter who flunked physical injured 10 days into job | New York Post
She'd fit right in with the Kuala Lumpur Fire Department. Electrical fire broke out on the third floor of our building. The first fire truck that arrived couldn't join the hoses together and had no long ladder, so they tried putting out the fire by shooting water 3 stories up from street level. The hook and ladder truck couldn't make the turn onto the street and just sat there blocking all traffic. Finally 2 firemen with extinguishers walked up three flights and put out the fire. In NY, that fire would have been put out in about 30 seconds - or maybe not if they keep on "priority hiring". |
9/11 was the greatest thing to happen for firefighters.
They're still treated like royalty in the salary department these days. Around our region, a disproportionate amount of money is tossed their way. |
Kuala Lumpur smells, I hate that place...

"Doirin-Holder started another class in early 2014 but dropped out because of an injury. The FDNY then gave her a desk job and kept her on the payroll at top firefighter salary, $76,488".

That's a good one. Would've been even more amusing if not from someone living in a city that has nothing left but their opinions. |
