That was actually used in the UK back in pre 'r-18' times as a method to legally sell hardcore VHS when only softcore was legal.

The idea was that as it was a speeded up sequence of still pictures, but not fast enough to be actually video quality, they could get round the law. Needless to say it didnt fly.

What I did find strange though was that the person who was behind the idea, instead of taking an existing film, actually shot a full feature film using the method that ONLY captured that style of footage - (1 frame every second or so) - instead of shooting it normally and doing that 'effect' in the edit...

So he kinda lost out a bit, but being a multi millionaire who owned his own newspaper, I don't think he really cared that much...

I've been doing something similar for years--I call them PhotoVids. They're sequences of stills in a video, and I usually make them of girls stripping. There are some samples here: PhotoVid Samples ...they're rotated sideways as they're intended to be viewed on a phone.

You'd have to be trendy and use the term "stop motion", though, to sell to the millennials and hipsters.. :upsidedow
(And actually do the stop motion correctly and not just 1.5fps like in the OP)

Looks a lot like my first Java cam shows from 2000. 1FPS ... (The dawn of the broadband days.)
Might have value in a promo tool idea however.
