ATTENTION LICENSED HANDGUN OWNERS

In light of recent events that have occurred in the United States and around the world I want to encourage citizens of Ulster County who are licensed to carry a firearm to PLEASE DO SO.

I urge you to responsibly take advantage of your legal right to carry a firearm. To ensure the safety of yourself and others, make sure you are comfortable and proficient with your weapon, and knowledgeable of the laws in New York State with regards to carrying a weapon and when it is legal to use it.

I also want to remind all Police/Peace Officers both active duty and retired to please carry a weapon whenever you leave your house. We are the thin blue line that is entrusted in keeping this country safe, and we must be prepared to act at any given moment.

Thank you,

Paul J. Van Blarcum
Ulster County Sheriff

Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Maybe, times like these are what the framers meant?

'Unprecedented': What ISIS Looks Like In America : The Two-Way : NPR

Quote:

They connect via online services ? especially Twitter ? and in everyday life. Their ages range from 15 to 47, and their roles range from cheering attacks to plotting violence. And curbing their growth is a dynamic challenge without a simple solution: There are currently 900 active investigations into ISIS sympathizers in every American state.

Those are some of the findings of a new study that glimpses life "inside the bubble of American ISIS sympathizers, a diverse and diffuse scene that the FBI estimates include hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals."

The National Guard took the place of state militias.

I do believe that the 2nd part of the 2nd Amendment gave the people the right to bear arms, not tied to service in a militia. I think one day in the not too distant future a Supreme Court with a liberal majority will interpret it the other say and we'll see a strict federal gun control law.

Possible, and it will work to control gun violence about as well as federal drug laws keep illegal drugs out of the country.

all the millions of guns and armed citizens in the US and still there are weekly mass shootings no one can stop, a surveillance apparatus has been set up that would make stalin blush and yet islamists can plot and execute mass murders unheeded ...

at one point do people stop using "solutions" to problems that obviously do not work?

have people become so stupid they can't come up with any solutions to problems except for failed ones?

I don't even like guns. Nor do I own one. Nor do I plan on owning one but....

To me the second amendment was put in place to protect the people from the government. Especially at this day and age I thank god that the USA has a high population of gun owners.

WHY?

Because whoever is really running the show in the USA is greedy and evil as fuck. They have already shown what they are willing to do to innocent people to achieve there agenda. Anywhere in the world... At any time.

The only thing stopping the super powerful from pulling the same stuff within the USA boarders is because the high population of gun owners.

Gun violence is bad of course. But the USA government is WAY to powerful as it is globally and i would HATE not to have a population that would be able to keep that in check at least partially.

I live in a city where we have a very low crime rate. We have a population of fifty thousand people; We don't have shootings here.

We did have one interesting incident this summer where someone forced themselves into a house. The homeowner decided to defend himself and pulled out his shot gun.... And robber quickly disarmed him and then shot him.

Because what could POSSIBLY go wrong here?

Barry-xlovecam 12-04-2015 09:31 AM

The shooters in San Bernardino were wearing body armour.
The average CCW licensee does not have ammunition that would do more then knock an armoured shooter down -- I don't know how many would go in for the kill shot ...

So, this armed camp approach probably would not have worked out that well in San Bernardino.

Ulster County is next to Poughkeepsie, NY Upstate

Result : A bunch of people getting shot by their baby in Walmart.
