Descriptive web address vs short address???
Which do you guys thinks is better for business, a descriptive web address or short address?
Example: KinkyBDSMsexTube.com vs KTube.com There seems to be a benefit to both, you can remember a shorter name and it's easier and faster to type, but the descriptive name let's you know it's just what you were looking for and seeing the descriptive name might bring in people out of curiosity. So which do you think is better? ** Also click your answer on the poll above! |
There could be a thing as too much description I would make it something like KinkYSexTube or BdsmSexTube
|
I do not see any poll.
I would go with the domain that includes the keyword/s you would want to rank for. |
Why not get both types of domains?
The poll needs a third option: Both. |

I prefer two words max in my domains so... KinkyTube would be the perfect choice by my criteria

So it really depends on what the two options actually are. Google has reduced the importance of a keyword in the domain name long ago but it will still help users to find you. Assuming dot com in both cases below: If its between KinkyTube and KTube, I choose KinkyTube because its not that long or remember. If its between KinkyBDSMsexTube and KTube, I choose KTube because: (a) Much easier to remember. (b) Much easier to type. (c) Short and better for branding. (d) The longer option will loose you a lot of traffic through typos. (e) There are not that many popularly used words starting with K other than Kinky and people would probably first think of K as relating to Kinky. So the association with letter K will probably work well once the users understand your product. |

seems like most people find sites through links so seeing a site named "KinkyBDSMsexTube" they will know exactly what the site is about. on the flip side seeing just "KTube" might draw curiosity and you might get more non-niche clicks. thoughts? |
Short like your cock...also easier to remember with less chance of typos.

KTube - THE place in town for kinky, bdsm, sex and all things freaky! Even in google there'll be a description and title. And if its just a text link, you can use anchor text to describe content. Quote:
Whatever you do, think carefully because once you're building a site on it there's no going back and switching domains is always a headache and causes losses. If you have the choices, feel free to post them and i'll give you my feedback free of any charge (I usually charge $900 per hour so its good value offer for you). |
gtld branding is fun https://epc.network
i was going to register "telephone.sex" because i think the .xxx didn't exist, but someone beat me to it. i feel like because telephone is synonymous with phone i could have slapped an ssl cert onto that bitch, got all fancy pants with the seo and ranked pretty high for "phone sex" and related keywords across numerous search engines only then was i going to come here and figure out how to monetize it, or build out a phone sex service from scratch if need be i don't really have time for any pet projects anymore :error :( |
If you have choice between both, then take the shortest
It's Easier to read and to remember, more catchy. And in case your business sinks one day, you could still sell your short domain name better than a long one. |
When search engines respected keyword search domains descriptive mattered, now shorter the better as it does not matter, but the visitor can remember easier. As I made an investment in a short one word domain like Play.xxx and others. I only recommend .com and .xxx extensions for adult, even use a hyphen instead of another extension. I have yet to develop the domain and looking to resell it. Perfect for tube, games, ect.

Keep it as short as possible, and as brandable as possible. |
isuckatmarketing.com or ISAM.com
penisland.com or PenIsland.com or PI.com |
I preffer the short ones !

thanks guys some good insight (expect that dick comment!)
i guess i was looking at it in terms of tube traffic, a lot of the sites advertised on tubes seems to have long names like "KinkyBDSMsexTube" where it seems like they don't care about typos and things. i guess if you're going off only tube traffic and banner clicks it doesn't matter as much, whereas if you want more organic google or search traffic shorter is better? |

Yes, most of good stuff and exact search terms are taken but there is a lot of adjectives and creativeness possibilities to pick a good two word domain, even a perfectly brandable one. |

So you shouldn't look too closely at what others are doing since 90% of people are too lazy to spend time on finding a good domain name. They'd rather just jump in and get started. |

anyway sounds like you are siding with the shorter domain name, anyone else have any input? |

You might have to add some creativity or some numbers but its easy. CheapInsurance.com - taken CheapInsurance22.com - available CheapInsurance33.com - available CheapInsurance44.com - available CheapInsurance55.com - available CheapInsurance66.com - available CheapInsurance77.com - available CheapInsurance88.com - available CheapInsurance99.com - available MeshInsurance.com - available VaseInsurance.com - available PiggyInsurance.com - available The list goes on and on and on. No-one has to spend to acquire a Domain Name when you can just brand your own domain name. |

So would you rather have PiggyInsurance.com (not being the exact term you wanted) or would you rather have ChpInsure.com (that has your exact term just shortened)? if you shortened it like CheapInsur.com or ChpInsur.com it would support my other option of a shorter name |

For example, with CheapInsur.com, people will type CheapInsure.com and then you're creating typos for someone else to monetize. At the end of the day, you just have to think like an average user. |
