What year did you ditch your ICQ?
I stopped using it completely in 2013.
Been a long time. I don't even know.
2018 I will think about giving it up. :)
I stopped using it on a daily basis probably 3-4 years back. I would only log in if I needed to talk to someone, and they would say hit me up on ICQ or I needed to talk to someone like Konrad who was on there. Now, I do not even have it installed on my machines. I used Skype if need be for IM, otherwise phone and email.
Over the years, I have found 90% of my IM conversations were simply time wasters that took away from my day. Sure, there were some who hit you up about business, but you would have to hear about their kids, or mood, whatever where as email and alike is much more direct. Phone is much faster (5 minute convo versus a half day trading messages). I have not missed it much, as I simply do not use IM as much as I used too. There are plenty of other ways to get business done. |
Not yet :)
But the business moves quickly to Skype. |
I lunch it accidentally, the fucking icon sits in the task bar.
I never used it. I'm sure Skype is much better.
2020 maybe :2 cents::2 cents:
I don't think I can function without my skype lol

Icq is solid

I had an ICQ login, but never actually used the client. I ran it on Trillian. But I haven't used any of those since around 2008-9. Instant messengers became a huge distraction with people just wanting to bullshit, so I nixed them all together. It's liberating. :thumbsup
I do use it either, just check it sometimes is there any messages
Still on icq ;)

I still use it but less and less...

ICQ4Life Bako!
Last year or the year before stopped using my main one as was loaded with people and switched to a different number with only 1 friend on it that I do frequent business with. Now he pretty much just text messages so don't really use it much. Haven't switched to Skype just mainly doing email/phone/text messages these days. Still have a stack of old 6 digit ICQ numbers I never used but I'd have to hunt for the logins.

It would be rad if the Samsung Gear had skype capabilities.
Switched to skype.
I think i switched on last time early this year
Ditch ICQ? Never.
Oh and... 402-733-61 |
1998 when it was sold to AOL.
ICQ is lame. |
I have not. Why bother to? It's no extra cost, people can still contact me...and helps me make money.
If you like Skype / email better...contact me by those methods. Now, smoke signals...I don't use THOSE... |

So on topic I still use icq but you'll never get a response from "hey what's up?" (unless you are a hot chick). Simple say hi and if I don't respond right away then ask me a short version of why you IMed and if and when I'm around I'll get back to you. |

The hottie female webmasters & affiliate managers...hell yeah! :thumbsup |
Some of my contacts on ICQ simply refuse to use Skype, so I still use ICQ.
I am ending ICQ at the end of this month. Like Barefootsies pointed out, I get mainly timewasters on there or scammers trying to sell me links, paypal exhange scams or ask to do a programming job for me but want to be paid 50% upfront but they have no GFY references" :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh
Most of the ppl dont use it ,seems its easier to make contact on Skype or email then using Icq
6-7 years ago. Never really even used it then.

Like they have stock in the company? Skype is just so much better |
2007 or 2008 I think. Around there.
Probably about 10 years ago for me. I love using modern tools and when I moved to Skype I encouraged people I regularly communicated with on ICQ to get on Skype too, and they did.
