Under The Skin

Scarlett Johansson is not naked enough to justify sitting through that mess.

I don't think I've seen a worse film, and that includes Noah.

It was obvious that they will not show her vag.

I found it bleak and thought-provoking ...

It's on netflix but hasn't really grabbed my attention enough to watch it.

I liked the creepy elephant man she felt sorry for. I assumed it was special effects but turns out he was really disfigured.

I don't think she feel sorry for him.

The way I interpreted it, she was an alien wearing a human skin, and had no concept that he was "ugly", he was just another human to bring back to the lair to skin. So this alien predator showed this deformed guy, who has to do his shopping at night to avoid attracting attention, more kindness than anyone else. Yet it wasn't really kindness, she just didn't have any preconceived notions about his exterior.

I understand why people can dislike "Under the Skin", but personally I enjoyed it immensely. It's refreshing not having a movie tell me anything, allowing me to pierce the narrative together from what's happening on the screen. But I can see how it can piss off people :)

That makes sense but what was the reason for not killing him like the rest.

Maybe the "system" (the vat that would skin people) rejected him, or maybe his adoration of her got through the gulf between them and made her break from her role of hunter. The movie doesn't tell us.

And that's okay by me. I don't mind being given clues but no solutions, but I can completely understand how it makes others rage.

Mind you, in the end the guy didn't escape, the motorcycle guy came to get him, which suggests a larger operation that keeps tabs on what's happening.

They accept to play in bad movies only for the big payments

Paul&John 12-07-2015 05:14 AM

That was an utter boring movie
