Ex Machina - Pretentious Crap...

92% on RT - Why?..

Why? - The clue is in the title.....

I love the house though - That was stunning...

bronco67 12-06-2015 06:36 PM

It's a movie for smart people.

2MuchMark 12-06-2015 06:46 PM

It was ok. Beautiful VFX but not really re-watchable.

That comment was exactly my point - I'm not sure if that was intentional or not...

shake 12-06-2015 08:06 PM

I saw it's on Netflix, can't decide if I should watch it or not.

I would feel bad if you didn't see it - It's watchable - It tries hard to be a really intellectual study on AI and psychology, in the end they have to explain everything so everyone gets it though...

In the end it felt less like a movie and more like a psych 101 lecture.....

It is a shit movie, why is it hyped everywhere?

NakedWomenTime 12-07-2015 05:46 AM

I'm interested in AI and psychology, but not watching movies about them. I find that any movie trying to explain technical stuff like this tends to make for boring viewing, it never really works. Same for hacking movies and stuff like that.

michael.kickass 12-07-2015 05:51 AM

Havent watched it, probably wont watch it ever.

Nicholas FirstMobileCash 12-07-2015 06:03 AM

It was a bit predictable, but I enjoyed it. They did a good job at making you believe who was the bad guy and who wasn't. The ending was a little disappointing... does he ever get out?

CurrentlySober 12-07-2015 06:36 AM

I enjoyed it. Wouldn't say it was great, but worth the watch at least once...

worth a watch, it was a bit weird though.

J. Falcon 12-07-2015 07:55 AM

Awesome movie, watched it twice actually. Loved the acting and the tension. Thought the ending was really cool too.

MetaMan 12-07-2015 08:05 AM

Great movie!

kinda like a early 70's art movie

dyna mo 12-07-2015 08:13 AM

it's british, of course it's pretentious.

bronco67 12-07-2015 10:00 AM

Watching a bunch of dumb-asses try to tear apart something they don't understand is always entertaining. Nice film analysis.

dyna mo 12-07-2015 10:01 AM

watching people get butt hurt because someone doesn't like a movie they like is always entertaining.

Sednub997 12-07-2015 10:03 AM

Nice killer trailer.Gonna watch it soon

ilnjscb 12-07-2015 10:50 AM

I really like Oscar Isaac's acting. The acting was very good.

I think it was stupid they cut the AI's POV. According to script, in AI POV,you just hear pulses of sound, and see abstract processing points and data. It would have helped to de-humanize the AI, which the film needed. It could have been done at the helicopter scene so as not to give it away, but the AI cares absolutely nothing for humans, and just sees them as a collection of data points. That would have given it a good scary ending, and brought home what just happened.

Also, never ever heard of a smart rich guy who didn't have fail-safe. That is completely unrealistic.

Other than that, great movie.

General consensus in the world outside here is that this is a good movie. The jackasses in here who don't like it aren't the minority of geniuses who have it all figured out.

wait... so you were actually serious when you said 'its a movie for smart people'? Wtf :1orglaugh I thought it was a clever joke in response to the pretentious remark.

You realize that you being serious when you said that is exactly what EddytheDogs point was? Jesus :1orglaugh

mineistaken 12-07-2015 03:44 PM

I liked it. I can not believe somebody could say it is crap.
I mean average movie is not that good, so to hear someone claiming that this one does not even reach average movie status is surprising.

CaptainHowdy 12-07-2015 03:44 PM

The morale of the story is: beware of women (in any shape or form).
