Good Genre Mash-Up Movies?

I tend to like genre mash up movies just because they usually are not as predictable as the movies force fed through the studio system. These are the types of movies that typically slip under the radar just because no one can really pin a genre label on them... Any one have any recommendations?

Here are some examples...

"Brotherhood of the Wolf" - martial arts/French Revolution/demonic beasts...

"Bone Tomahawk" - Western/comedy/horror

"Man on Wire" - documentary/caper suspense

"Shaun of the Dead" Zombie/bromance

Every Wes Anderson movie... Notably "Rushmore" and "Grand Budapest Hotel"

Get the idea? Any recommendations?

Dusk til dawn. Great crime flick mixed with vampires.

Seen one a little while ago that was good. I think it was called Things We Do in the Dark. Funny brit style comedy about vampires shot like a reality TV show.

I don't even know what I'd call it, but THE FINAL GIRLS was one that I just watched that was great.

The Final Girls (2015) - IMDb

Friday the 13th meets Inception maybe?

"things we do in the shadows"

Sounds good too!

Worth a watch for sure.

Bone Tomahawk was a good one too. I will check out anything with Kurt Russell, so this one was an instant watch for me the minute I saw it.

It's a TV series rather than a film - It's great though - ZNation - Zombie/Comedy - 'TheMurphy' really should get an award...

Brotherhood of the Wolf is one of my favorite movies.

At some point I want to watch The Burrowers - a western/monster flick.

How is Bone Tomahawk?

Liked it. Low key. Quirky sort of interesting. Starts a bit slow but all for good purpose. I had to laugh since the term "troglodytes" comes into splay at one point. (pun intended... those who've seen it know what I mean...) Pacing-wise reminded me of "The Proposition" but no similarities really beyond that unless you wanted to go deep and long on the monster themes territory both cover.

Yeah, I got a kick out of that flick too. That is one of the those flicks that no matter how many times I see it I am always entertained and seeing something different in it.

bumping for the sake of one less jc thread on home page... but more movie suggestions are of course welcome!
