Banners are obligatory on affiliate pages?

Hello everyone, please serious replies only.

I would like to know if is it obligatory to use banners on promotional pages or I can use only link codes provided by the studios affiliates?

Here's what I want to do: Mom's Christmas Stuffing, w/ Ava Addams in Mommy Got Boobs at Brazzers - data18.com - as you can see, it has no banners. Only link codes.

Some users are complaining that the flash banners are too heavy and make the website slow, so I'm thinking in using only link codes but I want to make sure it fits the rules of the affiliate systems.

Thanks in advance! :thumbsup

sure you can use text only instead of banners but I would make sure the the main text link is big and bold to stand out. Maybe use text like "Click here now to see more" at the bottom and bold text above with the websites domain name. It's all up to you to promote within the rules of what you are promoting but I've never heard of a company saying you can only link with banners. :2 cents:

IDK if banners are a requirement. But I'd use them. If they offer animated gif banners, use those instead of flash. They're much lighter.

Try to keep them non-intrusive, so if someone really truly is not interested, they can just as easily overlook them and still enjoy the site. I use every offer my affiliate provides, but only a certain number at a time on rotation. You never know what someone will find interesting. :2 cents:

Use gif banners if you want but host them yourself. Save them with 'code names' and not stuff like brazzers-banner.gif so the ad blockers dont pick them up

Also resize them by just a couple of pixels in each direction so as they are not the exact standard size, so again, adblockers dont pick them up

I don't care that much about banners...I would much rather have quality FHGs or zips with images - the banners I can make on my own.

Of course not.
There are much better ways to create your own content that actually gets decent CTR.

No, you can create a simple text link or your own banner.

Thanks for all the replies! I have contacted a few affiliate system and... none of them replied about it. lol

I'll think about a redesign on my future page, with a reduced number of ads. Thinking more about native advertising since the conversion rate is really low with the banners offered by most aff systems.

Banners are not required but do seem to do better. Just don't use the animated ones if it's a problem for your viewers. We can get custom banners done for our affiliates as well if they need something specific and like SBJ said, if you do want to use text make it stand out and use call to action words. Tell them what you want them to do. See more here, click here etc..
