Back from Bangkok

Hey there,

I'm just back from the Affiliate World Conference in Bangkok.
We had a blast hanging out with the guys there!

Only thing missing to hijack the show and make it an industry one was JFK ;)

Can't wait to see all of you again at the next show.

:pimp

This one:
Affiliate World Conferences

it was supposed to be mostly mainstream but as it happens there was a ton of people from the industry.

You had fun. Post some pic

nikki99 12-12-2015 09:17 AM

nobody was arrested for 20 years?

Niktamer 12-12-2015 09:20 AM

Was a GREAT show, full of affiliates and large mainstream business.

There is a convergence that is happening right now, two industries just realized they spoke the same language.

I didn't go, but everyone is saying this was an amazing show which doesn't usually happen these days.

Sorry for the image quality, as I said: we missed JFK ;)

I wanted to go, but 720 US$ for a ticket was a bit too expensive for my taste.

The fair was in walking distance from where I stayed. I am talking about the ticket to attend the venue as in door pass. Got it?

2400 bucks from santiago is pretty cheap. I pay around 8k from Bangkok to fly to Buenos Aires :-P

Please define "nice" :)

A lot of affiliates live there (or in the neighboring countries).
They make the same money wherever in the world they are living in.
And $1,000 in Bangkok will go a very long way compared to many other places.

The weather is nice and you are 1h away from the Indian ocean.

But it can also be a shit hole in some places and the traffic is mayhem.

I'd say it really depends on what you are looking for.

I know, but I also heard they'll be doing a summer one in Berlin and a winter one in Bangkok every year.

Funny that , :1orglaugh I was going to attend, then they misunderstood my request for a press pass, till it was pretty much too late to go. I saw the number of industry people attending, which was my motivation, for attempting to go. In retrospect, I should of attended, as it became a crossover event:disgust

adultchatpay 12-15-2015 03:19 AM

I am hearing nice feedback from that Bangkok Conference.

Was nice meeting you Anton. The show was indeed amazing, best show I have been to in a long time but that is relative to our business model. Not everyone in the adult business will get the same value out of these shows due to the nature of the setup. It is really set up for performance networks, traffic companies and of course the affiliates.

This was my first time in Bangkok (I am going back again in 10 days) and it was nothing that I expected. The city is busy as hell, lots of tourists but it copes well with it for the most part. It was cleaner than I imagined, no trash on the streets, lots of people cleaning, hosing down pavements and generally keeping things tidy. Police presence was very big in the City, I felt very safe walking around at all times of the day and never encountered any issues. The people are very friendly, always smiling and willing to help you. Street vendors are fun to negotiate with, everything is a negotiation and if you are a tourist, you will pay more than a Thai person off the bat. The food is out of this world, I already miss it and crave it so it is a good thing I go back to Thailand next week for 2.5 weeks with my wife.

Bangkok has a lot of wealth to it, yeah sure it is cheap there but not quite what everyone imagines. It is a lot cheaper than New York, LA, Miami. You will still pay decent money for a nice place to live. Want a nice car? You'll pay double what you would to buy it in USA. General day to day living is cheap, you could eat street food everyday for under $7 easily and eat VERY well. The nicer places tend to be very over priced, I had dinner at Vertigo on the rooftop of the Banyan Tree hotel, it was more than a nice meal in a US Steak House but the atmosphere was worth the extra.

I can't wait to go back with my wife, she is going to love it. I could easily see myself living in Bangkok for a year or two and be happy. Traffic might eventually drive me so nuts that I'd leave tho :1orglaugh
